Oct. 7 (Tuesday) — Voter registration closed; absentee in-person voting began at the Rio Arriba County Clerk’s office in Tierra Amarilla and the Santa Fe County Courthouse. Both will be open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Oct. 18 — Early in-person voting begins at the Rio Arriba County Clerk’s office in Española and at various sites in Santa Fe County, including the Santa Fe Rodeo Grounds, Pojoaque Fire Station, Abedon Lopez Senior Center in Santa Cruz. Early voting sites for both counties will be open Tuesday through Friday from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Oct. 31 — This is the last day for the clerks’ offices to mail an absentee ballot.
Nov. 1 — Early and absentee voting end.
Nov. 3 — This is the last day to cast a replacement absentee ballot. Voters who requested absentee ballots but have not yet received them in the mail can go to their county clerk’s office and sign an affidavit to that effect in order to receive a replacement absentee ballot.
Nov. 4 — The general election will take place today. Polls in both counties will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. People who forgot to send in an absentee ballot that they had quested can take them to their polling places or the proper County Clerk’s office (during regular business hours) to have their votes counted. People who requested absentee ballots and did not receive them can also go to their polling places, sign an affidavit stating they did not receive their absentee ballots, and vote on an emergency paper ballot.
