Apolinario R. Trujillo,
81, a resident of Espanola, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2009, following a sudden illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gonzalo and Celina Trujillo; father and mother-in-law, Tomas and Susana Garcia and sons-in-law, Jose Leandro “Lio” Archuleta and Andrew J. Salazar. Apolinario retired from the U.S. Forest Service, after 32 years. He had a great love for his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed camping, watching games and sports on T.V. Apolinario is survived by his wife, Adelires Trujillo; children, Alice Salazar, Larry Trujillo and Sylvia, all of Espanola, Esther Mascareñas and husband Mark of El Guique, Corrine Trujillo of Alcalde, Fernando Trujillo of Espanola, Jerome Trujillo and wife Loretta of Alcalde, Susan Trujillo and companion Gilbert Torrez of Cordova, Carmen Velasquez and husband David of Arroyo Seco, and Miguel Trujillo of Espanola; grandchildren, Melannie, Clarabelle, Annabelle, Sandra, Stacey, Francine, Lucas, Emilio, Ashley, Fernando Jr., Jerome Jr., Letisha, Desiree, Laura, Cynthia, Melissa, Daniel, and Celina; brothers, Theodoro Trujillo and wife Antonia, and Enadelsmo Trujillo and wife Manuelita; sister, Cleotilde Salazar and husband Leo, all of Coyote; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Pete Garcia of Coyote, Tomas Garcia and wife Margaret of La Sal, Utah, Atocha Gonzales of Espanola, and Teresa Barela and husband Manuel of Coyote; close friends, Herman and Matilde Salazar of Tierra Azul. Public visitation was Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, rosary followed at 7:00 p.m. A second rosary was recited on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Espanola. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church followed by burial at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Espanola; the following served as pallbearers, Leonard Garcia, Gabriel, and Marvin Trujillo, Benavides Garcia, Joseph Salazar, and Tomas Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers were all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his Godchildren. The family of Apolinario R.
