22, a resident of El Rito passed away on Friday, June 26, 2009. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Juan A. Maestas; Padrino, Edwin Johnson; uncle, Louie Sattler Sr. and Louie Sattler Jr. Max worked for the New Mexico department of transportation for 4 years. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and dancing. He liked to hang out with his family and friends. He was a very loving person with a big heart. Max is survived by his mother, Sylvia Maestas and Edward of Alcalde; father, Max A. Martinez and Becky of Alcalde; love of his life, April Lucero of El Rito; Aprils parents, Rose and David Lucero; sisters, Donna Martinez and Jason Duda of Alcalde, Stephanie Martinez and Dominic of Cuarteles and Amanda Maestas; brothers, Eddie R. Maestas of Alcalde and Steven Maez of Espanola; maternal grandmother, Olivia Maestas of Alcalde; paternal grandparents, Max W. Martinez and Evangeline of Alcalde; aunts and uncles, Rosie Trujillo, Danny Maestas, Atocha Maestas, Dolores Johnson, Richard and Pam Maestas, Ronnie and Tammy Ulibarri, Juan and Lawra Martinez, Leonard Maestas, Phyllis Sandoval, and Paul Maestas; nephews and nieces, Jordan, Jerek, Jassy, Janai, Jaden and Jenae. Public visitation was on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with rosary following at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial was recited on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in San Juan. Burial followed at the La Villita Cemetery in Alcalde with the following serving as pallbearers, Gabrial Rodella, Ronald Sanchez, Jason Johnson, Erica Maestas, Jerry Byers, Ronaldo Ulibarri, Jose Moya and Nicholas Maestas. Honorary pallbearers, Carlos Maestas, Jassen Lopez, Aaron Salazar, Ruben Garcia, Jeremy Trujillo, Steve Lona, Tomas Martinez, April Ulibarri and all his cousins.
