Fishing Report for the Week of July 2

ABIQUIÚ LAKE: The fishing for smallmouth bass was very good using clousers, tubes, jerk baits, poppers, worms and senkos. The fishing for walleye was good using jerk baits, clousers, minnows and crank baits. The fishing for catfish was good using cut bait on trotlines, also good using liver and worms on rod and reel. A few trout were caught using minnows, crank baits and power bait.

CANJILON LAKES: The trout fishing was slow to fair using worms, salmon eggs, power bait and spinners.

CHAMA RIVER: The water flows Monday morning below El Vado and Abiquiú dams were 193 cubic feet per second and 539 cubic feet per second, respectively. The trout fishing was fair to good using grasshoppers, jerk baits, night crawlers, spinners, streamers and salmon eggs.

EAGLE NEST LAKE: The fishing for trout and kokanee salmon was good from boats using spinner/worm combinations, spinner/corn combinations, Pistol Petes, spoons and power bait.

EL VADO LAKE: The fishing for trout was fair using power bait, night crawlers, spinner/corn combos and spinners.

FENTON LAKE: The fishing for trout was slow to fair using worms and black Pistol Petes.

HERON LAKE: The fishing for kokanee salmon was fair to good using spinner/corn combos at depths of 15 to 32 feet. Kokanee anglers also picked up a few small lake trout while trolling. The bank fishing for trout and kokanee was good using Kastmaster/corn combinations.

JEMEZ WATERS: The water flow Monday morning on the Jemez River near Jemez Springs was 33 cubic feet per second. The fishing on the Jemez, Rio Guadalupe, San Antonio River and East Fork of the Jemez was good using red and yellow humpys, grasshoppers, worms, ants, salmon eggs and spinners.

RIO GRANDE: The water flow Monday morning at the Taos Junction Bridge was 1,640 cubic feet per second. The fishing for trout was slow to fair using spinners, spoons and night crawlers.

SAN JUAN RIVER: The water flow Monday morning below Navajo Dam was 522 cubic feet per second. The fishing through the Quality Waters was good using RS2s, dead chickens, chamois leeches, little princesses, San Juan worms, bead head pheasant tails, small hair jigs and small streamers. The fishing through the bait waters was fair to good using night crawlers, wooly buggers, power bait, copper john barrs and jerk baits.

SANTA CRUZ LAKE: The trout fishing near the dam was fair to good using power bait, worms, spoons, jerk baits and spinners.
