Fishing Report for the Week of July 23

ABIQUIÚ LAKE: The fishing for smallmouth bass was fair using topwater lures, senkos, worms, grubs and in-line spinners. The fishing for walleye was fair using jerk baits, minnows, worms, spinner/night crawler combinations, spinner/minnow combinations, grubs, tubes and crank baits. The fishing for catfish was fair using cut bait, liver and night crawlers.

CANJILON LAKES: The trout fishing was fair-to-good using worms, power bait, salmon eggs and spinners.

CHAMA RIVER: The water flows Monday morning below El Vado and Abiquiú dams were 1,050 cubic feet per second and 1,090 cubic feet per second, respectively. The trout fishing below El Vado was slow-to-fair using night crawlers, wooly buggers, jerk baits and salmon eggs.

EL VADO LAKE: The fishing for all species was slow.

HERON LAKE: The fishing for kokanee was fair-to-good using double whammies, kokanee killers, wedding rings and Cripplures tipped with white corn trolling at 20-to-34 feet. The bank fishing for kokanee, small lake trout and rainbow trout was fair using power bait, salmon eggs, spinners and Kastmasters.

RIO GRANDE: The water flow Monday morning at the Taos Junction Bridge was 371 cubic feet per second. The trout fishing was fair-to-good using spinners, spoons, wooly buggers, San Juan worms and night crawlers. The fishing for northern pike was slow-to-fair using bunny leeches and husky jerks.

SANTA CRUZ LAKE: The trout fishing was fair-to-good using power bait, salmon egg/corn combinations, marshmallow/corn combinations, spoons and spinners.
