Six McCurdy High School students traveled to Socorro April 4 to compete in the 2009 New Mexico Science and Engineering Fair.
The results were as follows:
• Marisa Griego won an honorable mention for her exhibit titled “Power of Suggestion” in the behavioral and social sciences category.
• Brandon Ramirez, Francisco Vigil and Dennis Trujillo won an honorable mention for a team project entitled “Magnetosphere Particle-Interaction.” The project was also named the best meteorological exhibit by the American Meteorological Society.
• Lindsay Redman took home a third-place prize for her exhibit titled “Caffeinated Typing: Part II” in the behavioral and social sciences category.
• Sophie Swingle took an engineering honorable mention for her exhibit titled “ULF Communications: Reaching the Surface.” Swingle also won an award from the New Mexico Network for Women in Science and Engineering, and a certificate from the United States Metric Association.
