Northern New Mexico Youth and Families Against Drugs expanded its scholarship program this year to award three youths active in community service.
Angelo Medina, of Española Valley High School, was awarded the organization’s first annual $500 scholarship.
When it was discovered that finalists Veronica Quintana, of Española Valley, and Francisco Valdez, of McCurdy School, were ranked within one-half point of Medina, the organization voted to award both Quintana and Valdez a $250 scholarship.
Youth and Families hopes to raise more money next year. For more information, contact Efren Sanchez at 927-4714.
