(SUNfoto by Bill Rodgers) A Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s Department cruiser and emergency vehicles from the Velarde Fire Department waited alongside State Road 68 May 27 at about 10 a.m. while deputies and medical workers searched the road for blood, according to Velarde Fire Chief Eddie Velarde. Española 911 Center dispatch logs state a man claimed he had a stab wound in his leg and was walking to Española Hospital. At the hospital, the man said he did not know if he was injured in a stabbing or from something else.
