(SUNfotos by George Morse) Laura Simmons of New Mexico Raptors holds a female Swainson’s hawk at the OspreyFest July 9 at Heron Lake State Park. The hawk, named Kree for her distinctive call, was electrocuted and then rehabilitated. Swainson’s hawks inhabit riparian areas and nest in large cottonwood trees.
