Sundevil Cheer Squad Excited about Progress

(SUNfoto by George Morse) The Española Valley cheerleaders are all off the floor as they leap into the air during their performance at the State Spirit competition march 23 at the Santa Ana Star Center. The Sundevils finished sixth overall among the 16 teams competing in Class AAAA, continuing their improvement from an 11th-place finish in 2011. Española scored a total of 404.5 points and there were eight seniors on this year’s team. Cheerleading officially became a sport two seasons ago.
