Tethered hot air balloon rides and dancing to the live country music of the Renegade Mountain Band will be two highlights of an

Oct. 26 benefit fundraiser for the Espanola YMCA Teen Center. The event will be held from 4 to 10 p.m. at the Rural Events Center in Abiquiú.

“We’ve gone country,” said Executive Director Linda Daly. “We have a catered spit barbecue dinner, roping demonstrations, old time western costume photos, and it’s in the country, at an absolutely beautiful venue—Georgia O’Keefe County.”

This is the first Boots, Band & BBQ event for the Espanola YMCA Teen Center, Daly said.

The Espanola YMCA Teen Center has an annual budget of $180,000 and is partly funded by the city of Espanola, Rio Arriba County, Santa Fe County, the United Way of Northern New Mexico, Con Alma Health Foundation, Santa Fe Community Foundation and several other foundations at approximately $130,000. The event is being held to help make up the operating difference.

Teen Center Director Ben Sandoval said, “It is heart-warming to see the multi-agency support for the purpose of serving our youth. Our village recognizes the need and is responding earnestly.”

Table sponsorships are available at a $1,000 Rancher’s level and a $500 Posse level. Individuals who want to attend are encouraged to get a posse together and purchase a table jointly. Table purchases may be arranged by calling Linda Daly at 662-3100, or by completing and mailing a form available online at www.laymca.org/media/bootsbandbbq.pdf.
