Rio Arriba Sheriff’s Capt. Randy Sanches holds a Denver Broncos helmet, Monday afternoon, in his Española office. Sanches said the helmet is the “talking stick” he shares with his wife, a form of conflict resolution that only allows the person holding the object to speak and requires the other person to summarize what was said before being allowed to talk. He learned the technique from a couples therapist.
