Abiquiú reservoir is at a very low level, with water barely reaching the westernmost area of the dam. Department of Interior officials say the release of Colorado River allotments into Lake Powell will not affect water leases in New Mexico, Colorado and Utah, yet. The release of water was to support hydroelectric generation, irrigation and treated water for personal use in Arizona, Nevada and California.
