No the Mayor’s Money

Published:

This is in response to the letter submitted by Michael Vigil, Albuquerque, asking voters to give the mayor a second term. If our current mayor has transformed his vision to reality, as Mr. Vigil states, then rampant homelessness, growing crime, lack of police presence and lack of economic growth, is what the mayor’s vision has produced.

Mr. Vigil credits the mayor for the influx of federal funds that the city will receive, funds that were awarded by congress do not reflect on his administration’s abilities. When first elected, the mayor himself stated that he had a learning curve. From the look of things, he hasn’t learned much.

In the mayor’s recent Rio Grande SUN advertisement, he brags that his business generates over 1.5 million in annual payroll. Placing his personal gains in the advertisement clearly demonstrates his lack of compassion for our citizens. Our seniors and homeless populations struggle to make ends meet, but it is nice to know that the mayor is doing well.

According to the SUN, it was the National Guard that approached the city about transferring the Armory building to them. This was done for Truth or Consequences, Hobbs, and Gallup. Again, no vision, just luck.

Española needs a new mayor. A home-grown leader who understands its citizens, history, and can tackle numerous problems, not waiting for someone else to act, and then want the credit. John Ramon Vigil has the experience and leadership skills to do just that.
