My friend John Ricci is running for re-election on March 1 for city councilor in District 1. I would like to share three reasons to vote for him.
First he’s honest. Anyone who meets him gets a firm handshake, a look in the eye and a sincere smile. His interest in what you have to say is authentic.
If you ask him a question that he doesn’t know the answer to, he will tell you he will find out and get back to you. He doesn’t give the “political two-step,” just pretending to know and hoping the person will forget. My best measurement is all his years in business, his integrity has never been questioned.
Second is commitment. When he called me to let me know he was running and wanted to know what I thought, my first question was why do you want to run again. His answer was he wanted to finish the job he started, to make good on his goals he had during his first term. He has completed three out of the four commitments he set out to accomplish.
John is sincere in wanting to make the citizens’ lives better. He shows up to all council and committee meetings to represent his district. He wants to be your voice. He won’t shortchange you.
Last is experience. He has been serving as councilor for District 1 for the last four years. John has listened to your concerns and represented you. He has learned a lot about the process in those four years. Working with a group can be challenging. Everyone has their own agenda. The experience he has gained is going to help him in getting things done. Common sense and need guides his decisions.
Your vote March 1 is very important. It is your chance to vote for those whom you feel will have your best interests at heart. Local government impacts you daily.
Each of you must exercise your right to vote. Your participation affects your future. The more people who vote, the louder our message becomes. Don’t allow others to impact your future because you don’t vote.
I endorse John Ricci for city councilor representing District 1. Let him help you by achieving what you feel Espanola needs.
