Cristobal Heremerejildo Ortiz, born on October 4, 1930, to Heremerejildo and Epemenia Ortiz in Truchas, New Mexico, peacefully went home to be with our Lord on November 11, 2023.
Cristobal and his devoted wife, Sabinita, raised three sons and two daughters in Cordova, New Mexico. He served diligently in various capacities, working for the U.S. Army, the Los Alamos School District, and several other companies.
Survived by his wife of 69 years, Sabinita Ortiz, Cristobal leaves behind a lasting legacy through his sons Lawrence (Betty) Ortiz, Elvis (Cathy) Ortiz, and his daughters Orlene (Isaac) Cordova, and Amy (Cleve) Turk. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, his brother Arturo Ortiz, and sisters Ruth Ortiz and Martina (Eppie) Romero.
Cristobal was preceded in death by his son, Alex Ortiz, grandson Jeremy Ortiz, and sisters Ascensionita (Gregorio) Lopez, Maria (Porfirio) Sanchez, Nancy (Eppie) Trujillo, along with sister-in-law Olivia Ortiz.
Cristobal enjoyed the simple pleasures of life such as spending time with his family, sitting on his favorite rocking chair on the front porch, carving alongside his wife, and watching Sanford and Son reruns and football on Sunday afternoons.
In his journey, Cristobal’s faith in the Lord was unwavering, guiding him through the highs and lows of life. This steadfast faith shaped the man who was not only a loving husband, father, and grandfather but also a pillar of strength for those around him.
