The police blotter is published to give readers an abridged look at criminal activity in their community and neighborhood. It is simply an illustration of what local law enforcement, funded by taxpayers, must deal with daily throughout the Española Valley.

May 1
1:29 a.m. An FAA caller wanted to file a report because of a green laser, which they said is possibly coming from the city.
6:34 a.m. A deputy went to Coronado High School in response to the threat of an active shooter.
7:03 a.m. A homeless person was setting up camp near Center Market.
7:47 a.m. A Calle Vigil caller reported there was a man sleeping on the back step.
10:56 a.m. A Paseo Don Juan caller said her nephew was up the road, threatening his family.
10:57 a.m. A caller on Los Alamos Highway and South Paseo de Oñate reported her windshield was damaged when a reckless driver passed on the shoulder and kicked up rocks.
11:20 a.m. A caller wanted panhandlers dispersed from the Ohkay Express Mart.
11:32 a.m. A caller said her neighbor is having some type of episode in the middle of the road.
11:43 a.m. A Pizza Hut caller reported five people are consuming substances by the dumpster.
1:13 p.m. An Española Middle School caller said there was a student in the office because of an assault.
2:08 p.m. An officer went to the Española Middle School regarding disorderly conduct.
3:59 p.m. A City Hall caller said a homeless person was loitering and sleeping in front of City Hall.
4:21 p.m. A woman wanted to file a report for a domestic that happened yesterday. She was having a hard time breathing due to possible strangulation.
5:21 p.m. A homeless man near La Fonda del Sol said he needed medical attention.
5:24 p.m. A woman was walking around in Abiquiú and the neighbors told each other she was on people’s properties.
5:26 p.m. An El Parasol caller reported a man with a backpack keeps asking customers for money.
6:11 p.m. A caller requested a deputy check on a car that was abandoned on the side of the road in Hernandez. He thinks it’s his, but is scared to check because of its location.
8:46 p.m. Three or more people were tagging the side of Allsups and a caller wanted them dispersed.
9:51 p.m. A man in Chamita was throwing things around the house and being belligerent.

6:53 a.m. A Middle San Pedro Road caller said two men went into her yard around 3 a.m. and threw a rock through her front window.
7:34 a.m. A Middle San Pedro Road caller reported her windshield was shattered by a rock. The vehicle was fine last night but when she went out in the morning, she noticed it.
7:37 a.m. A Middle San Pedro Road caller said a rock was thrown through the windshield of her car.
8 a.m. A County Road 22 caller reported his windshield was smashed, his doors were open and the gas tank on his car was popped open.
8:24 a.m. A woman’s death was reported on La Joya Street.
9:36 a.m. A Walmart caller said $400 was taken out of her account but they refused to give her the groceries she purchased and came back with a slip that showed her card was declined.
10:37 a.m. A caller reported a child was left on a bus at some point in the morning and the bus was parked in front of the Santa Clara Police Department. The responding officer said he did not see anything criminal in the video footage he reviewed and there was no bus in front of the department.
10:43 a.m. A complaint for criminal damage at the Española Middle School was filed.
12:11 p.m. A fire was seen on Borrego Mesa in Truchas.
12:51 p.m. A fire was reported behind Century Bank.
1:35 p.m. A person went to EPD to speak with an officer about a fraudulent $265 check.
1:42 p.m. A Chamita caller said she was threatened by her son’s girlfriend’s presence.
1:51 p.m. A Chama caller reported her nephew is being verbally abusive and she is disabled and fears for her life.
2:03 p.m. A caller said a man with warrants is walking to Medanales with another man.
3:59 p.m. A Camino Cielo Grande caller reported a cat with newborn kittens is living under her trailer.
4:24 p.m. A caller said a group of young men were trying to start a fight with other people at Valdez Park.
5:41 p.m. A Wendy’s caller reported a man carrying a bag is throwing stuff at passing cars.
6:22 p.m. An AutoZone caller said a man took an automatic bike pump and fled behind the building.
7:01 p.m. A Park Street caller reported seeing a drunk man carrying a bottle in a brown paper bag and yelling as they were driving out of the trailer park.
8:37 p.m. An Ohkay Owingeh caller said her 15-year-old son is acting out in the house and throwing things around because he wasn’t allowed to go to his girlfriend’s house in Chimayó.
8:44 p.m. An Upper San Pedro Road caller reported his sister is causing issues at the house and arguing with family.
9:48 p.m. A caller requested courtesy rounds because he husband is getting out of jail and threatened to burn down the house when he was released.
10:23 p.m. A La Mesilla caller said there are people outside with a gun.
10:54 p.m. Shots were heard on Middle San Pedro Road.
11:26 p.m. A La Mesilla caller reported a man threw her down, choked her and took her purse.

12:50 a.m. A caller said a car is tailgating them and turning off their headlights. She knows who they are and they harass and threaten her life.
1:53 a.m. A Middle San Pedro Road caller reported a rock was thrown through her window.
2:40 a.m. Shots were fired in Velarde.
7:45 a.m. A North McCurdy Road caller said there are three or four people under the trees across the street and they’re all lying on the ground.
10:04 a.m. A fire was reported in Medanales.
10:22 a.m. A Velarde caller wanted to speak with a deputy because the neighbor threw Styrofoam in their polycart and it went all over her yard. She said she picked it up and threw it back in the neighbor’s yard and they haven’t thrown it away.
10:50 a.m. A Middle San Pedro Road caller said someone threw a rock through his front window.
10:59 a.m. A Hernandez caller reported the side of his car was hit and he thinks it might have been the neighbor.
11:22 a.m. A man was in the San Pedro Shell yelling at employees.
11:41 a.m. A man’s death was reported in Velarde.
12:07 p.m. An Upper San Pedro caller said her stepsister is doing fraudulent things with her bank account.
12:44 p.m. A North Prince Drive caller wanted to file a report because someone destroyed some appliances at their house.
1:14 p.m. A caller said a man was lying against the fence at Southwest Cannabis and was passed out.
1:17 p.m. A Calle del Sol caller reported a woman drank hand sanitizer and was lying down and had her eyes closed.
1:52 p.m. An overdose was reported on East Jiron Street. Two doses of Narcan were administered.
2:11 p.m. A Calle Serrano caller said her son was acting crazy and she’s not sure if he relapsed on drugs.
2:41 p.m. A caller reported a man defecated on the road by Wendy’s.
2:43 p.m. A caller said she got a call from a man’s cousin who advised her to be careful because the man told him he’s going to kill her.
3:53 p.m. A woman went to EPD and said she was scammed over the phone. She was trying to get a refund on Amazon but when she called the number on the website, she was told to download the Target app; they got all her information from there. She wanted to file a report.
4:06 p.m. A La Mesilla caller said a man was in and out of consciousness. The caller phoned again and said the man took something and is being combative; he might be on meth.
4:30 p.m. Two men were fighting near the vision center inside Walmart.
5:23 p.m. An El Rito caller wanted to file a report for a stolen weed eater, a backpack and CDs.
7:02 p.m. A caller reported a truck with trash was traveling near the Rio Chama Chevron and the trash was landing on the road and blocking it.
7:22 p.m. An illegal burn was reported in Chamita.
8:32 p.m. Three shots were heard on Calle Vigil.
9:51 p.m. A caller said a man and woman were behind the strip mall by the Bubble Zone and they could smell chemicals and thinks the two might be smoking fentanyl.
11 p.m. A Lowe’s Home Improvement caller reported multiple people are in front of their vehicle, stopping them from leaving.
11:55 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check because people in a truck were messing with a homeless man with a cane.

Midnight A Medanales caller said a truck was following their niece and hit the fence, causing damage.
12:42 a.m. A caller reported her daughter is getting strange messages from an unknown number that don’t make sense.
1:43 a.m. A man was found hanging near the Santa Clara Bridge.
8:08 a.m. A caller said his boss is refusing to pay him because he quit. The boss also threatened the caller and wouldn’t let him leave.
8:23 a.m. An Allsups caller reported a man has been there since 6:30 a.m. and said he’s running for his life and his wife was kidnapped.
8:45 a.m. A Blue Bus caller requested a welfare check on a driver near Taos who pressed the panic button and said something about gang members.
10:06 a.m. A Lyden caller said the neighbors are harassing her.
10:11 a.m. A man asked a caller on South McCurdy Road and Camino de Roberto to call the police because someone is after him.
11:01 a.m. A caller said they were on Camino Cielo Grande and El Llano Road when they approached a woman and she jumped in the road in front of them and they had to swerve to miss her. A man was recording the incident and the caller thinks the woman jumped in front of them intentionally.
11:31 a.m. A man went to EPD to file a report because he noticed his gun was missing from his car after taking it for an oil change.
1:15 p.m. An Ohkay Owingeh caller said a woman was following her and throwing stuff at her vehicle.
2:01 p.m. A County Road 14 caller reported her husband kicked her out of the house and won’t let her in. He pushed her out the door.
2:24 p.m. An overdose was reported at Cook’s Mobile Home Park.
2:45 p.m. A Camino Rafael caller said her boyfriend got very drunk and beat her. He passed out and she was able to get away.
3:15 p.m. A caller reported a person living at the Villa del Norte Apartments might be selling drugs.
4:47 p.m. A man near the Santa Claran Casino Hotel said a homeless man asked to borrow his phone and when he refused, the man threw rocks at his car.
5:35 p.m. A New Creations Ministry caller reported a man keeps throwing himself on the floor.
7:01 p.m. A death was reported on Abalone Lane.
7:45 p.m. An ALC Global caller said the building’s electric meter was damaged and there’s no electricity.
7:48 p.m. A woman fell in the Ohkay Casino parking lot and had cuts on her head.
8:47 p.m. Panhandlers were harassing customers at the nail salon near the Shoe Dept.
8:57 p.m. A man was beating a woman in the Bond House parking lot.
9:04 p.m. A very drunk man was throwing things around an El Llano Road home and breaking the door.

1:35 a.m. An overdose was reported in Hernandez. Three or four Narcan doses were administered.
6:10 a.m. Security was having issues with three or four people at Española Pathways Shelter.
7:04 a.m. A man was camping out in front of Center Market and an employee requested that he be removed.
10:55 a.m. A motorcycle accident was reported at the turnoff to Santa Cruz Lake.
12:23 p.m. A caller reported a truck is driving recklessly with the tailgate down near Wells Fargo Bank. There’s a dog in the back that was about to fall out and was trying to jump into traffic.
1:29 p.m. A Food King caller said there’s a man passed out by the register. When medics arrived, they found the man at the front of the store and a woman in the break room who was also unconscious.
2:24 p.m. A woman was carrying curtain rods and looking into vehicles on La Joya Street.
2:48 p.m. A Hernandez caller wanted to report a burglary after the fact. He lost power earlier in the day and thought it was a power outage, but realized his electric meter was missing and there was damage to his truck.
4:33 p.m. An Española Pathways Shelter caller asked for people to be dispersed. Everyone is supposed to be gone by 4 p.m., but there were still people hanging around.
5:08 p.m. A person went to RASO to file a report because his former employer was threatening him and wouldn’t give him his last paycheck.
5:10 p.m. A Chama caller said someone stuck him in a crawl space and he went to the emergency room.
6:40 p.m. A caller reported a man and woman got into a house and are smoking off a foil.
8:30 p.m. A caller said a man and woman look like they might be trying to get into the storage units on La Joya Street.
10:02 p.m. An overdose was reported at Cook’s Mobile Home Park. Narcan was administered.
10:10 p.m. A 420 Emporia caller said a man is camping out between the building and the trash can and smoking fentanyl.
11:06 p.m. A man reported he’s stuck on a cliff in the mountains.

May 6
1:35 a.m. A man called 911 to say he drank earlier and now his body is hurting. He’s in front of McDonald’s and needs an ambulance.
5:04 a.m. A caller reported a truck in front of him hit a boulder in Dixon and ran off the road.
8:15 a.m. A caller wanted help getting a kitten out of a vase because it was stuck and she can’t get scratched.
11:32 a.m. A man was unconscious and not breathing at the RTD Office building. CPR was performed and three doses of Narcan were administered.
11:51 a.m. A woman was chasing another woman and a man at Center Market, saying they stole her purse.
12:28 p.m. A caller said a man took her granddaughter’s glasses and she needs them back because she can’t see without them.
12:48 p.m. A Metro PCS caller reported his car stolen.
3:34 p.m. A man went to RASO to report another man attacked him with a knife at Bode’s on Good Friday.
4:19 p.m. A Lindrith caller said a man is outside his truck, walking in the road and tweaking out.
5:05 p.m. An SUV was reported to be in a ditch on State Road 112.
5:40 p.m. A caller said three men are smoking fentanyl next to the NM Bank and Trust ATM.
6:55 p.m. An Allsups caller reported a man took something from the store and threw rocks at him.
7:02 p.m. A caller said there’s an encampment behind Goodwill.
7:49 p.m. A caller reported her brother’s house was broken into and the thieves barricaded themselves inside.
8:29 p.m. An overdose was reported near H&A Automotive. One dose of Narcan was administered.
11:08 p.m. A caller said his wife took their children last night and he wants to speak with an officer because he feels she’s unstable.
Nosy neighbor
May 7
5:10 a.m. A caller requested people be dispersed from behind Center Market because they have a small fire going.
7:58 a.m. A caller said he was driving near Century Bank when the vehicle in front of him stopped suddenly, causing his emergency braking system to activate. As a result he was rear-ended.
9:11 a.m. A woman went to EPD to report her car brakes were cut.
9:46 a.m. A Food King caller said a driver got out of his vehicle at the nearby gas pumps and started yelling at him, then threated to beat him up.
9:53 a.m. A caller reported a boulder in the road in Velarde.
12:50 p.m. A Champion Car Wash caller said a man is shooting up drugs in the vacuum area.
1:33 p.m. Four homeless people were panhandling at the Dollar Tree in Española and blocking the entrance.
2:15 p.m. A man broke into a house on North McCurdy Road.
2:35 p.m. A man was found unconscious and not breathing on Old School Road. The Office of the Medical Investigator was called.
5:03 p.m. A Rodeway Inn caller requested courtesy rounds throughout the night because of “strung out” people in the parking lot.
6:03 p.m. A caller reported a woman was hitting her son at Lowe’s Home Improvement. She pulled him out of the car and began hitting him.
9:03 p.m. A 420 Emporia caller requested that a woman be trespassed because she was yelling at him and refusing to leave.
9:35 p.m. A caller said his girlfriend pointed a gun at him and cocked it.
11:38 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle was high-centered in the median near Avanyu Travel Center.
