The police blotter is published to give readers an abridged look at criminal activity in their community and neighborhood. It is simply an illustration of what local law enforcement, funded by taxpayers, must deal with daily throughout the Española Valley.

Smoking Drugs
Oct. 2
7:16 a.m. Los Alamos dispatch received a call, reporting a truck wrecked in the canyon near Velarde.
7:56 a.m. A Fry Street caller said her vehicle was broken into and her gun was stolen.
9:43 a.m. A Hernandez caller reported someone shut off their breakers and stole a chainsaw, camping pad and a blanket.
11:33 a.m. A McDonald’s caller said a man in the lobby is unresponsive.
11:48 a.m. A Mykal’s Vapor caller wanted two people dispersed. They were asked to leave, but refused.
11:55 a.m. An officer responded to the Española Middle School because minors were in possession.
2:13 p.m. A Montana Vista Street caller said a man is smoking drugs behind her shed.
2:28 p.m. A caller reported two men in a truck are smoking drugs near the old Rue 21 store.
7:18 p.m. A caller said there are four people loitering at the front door of Fairview Pharmacy.
7:39 p.m. A 420 Emporia caller reported someone in a vehicle is smoking meth.
10:33 p.m. A Sena’s Radiator caller said two homeless people were walking by and threw rocks at his store.
11:16 p.m. A caller reported his vehicle was damaged after he left it on the side of the road in Hernandez because it broke down.
Fireworks or Gunshots?
Oct. 3
6:59 a.m. A Hernandez caller said a man was not responding and having trouble breathing. Later, law enforcement was requested because people at the house were using “copious amounts” of narcotics and the man was overdosing.
7:54 a.m. A man was lying face-down next to a motorcycle on U.S. Highway 64/84.
8:07 a.m. Two homeless men were near the Goodwill donation door, blocking the entrance. They were asked to leave, but refused.
8:48 a.m. A man refused to leave Habitat for Humanity. When asked to leave he got aggressive and verbally threatened a man.
9:29 a.m. A car was parked in the middle of the road on East Santa Clara Bridge Road and South Riverside Drive, facing the wrong way. One person was arrested for DWI.
10:32 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on his niece, whom he said is a known drug user. He dropped her off on Calle Del Alamo after she asked for a ride to Española, saying she needed to get medicine.
10:51 a.m. A Lucero Center caller said a woman who was threatening staff last week is parked on the side of the building.
11:13 a.m. A Sena’s Radiator caller reported their sign was broken by a homeless person who threw a rock at it last night.
1:06 p.m. A man went to EPD to file a report for a scam that happened to him.
1:26 p.m. A Lyden caller said a person was damaging his property and he wanted to file a report.
1:45 p.m. An overdose was reported at China Kitchen.
2:10 p.m. An El Rodeo caller said a person tried running at a customer with a knife.
3:46 p.m. A caller said a car was driving in the median, then made a turn to go into the Rock Christian Fellowship parking lot. A man in the car was beating a woman.
4:18 p.m. An Abiquiú caller reported someone shattered the back window on a vehicle.
4:49 p.m. A County Road 341 caller said someone broke into her dead father’s house and an SUV was taken.
6:42 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man lying on the side of the road near El Parasol, with blood on his face.
7:54 p.m. An overdose was reported near EPD. The woman overdosing said she took a combination of 17 different medications.
10:07 p.m. A caller thought she was hearing fireworks at North McCurdy Road and Fairview Lane, but then thought it might be gunshots.
10:14 p.m. An East Shadowood Lane caller reported that seven or eight people had a bon fire going and they were being loud. They said one person was running down the road in his underwear.
Bar Fight
Oct. 4
12:37 a.m. A caller said three people were physically fighting at Club Tropicana and a woman might have brass knuckles. The security guard said they didn’t see anything.
1:06 a.m. A caller requested a close patrol at Club Tropicana because they are closing up a dance and a woman was threatening to fight another woman.
1:42 p.m. A caller said her 15-year-old son is on probation and is being disobedient and yelling at her and her father because he wants to see his girlfriend and they told him to clean his room.
3:09 p.m. A caller reported a man was walking around near the San Pedro Shell with his pants down. He has three pairs of pants but none of them are up.
3:32 p.m. A caller said a man in El Rito was acting crazy and threatening to shoot the dogs. An ambulance was requested because the man shot himself and a dog.
4:12 p.m. Two callers reported hearing shots fired in Alcalde.
6:10 p.m. A caller said a man made sexual advances to her via cellphone and she’s not interested; she wants advice on what to do.
7:15 p.m. A possible overdose was reported on North Riverside Drive.
9:55 p.m. An Allsups caller said a person in a vehicle is doing some sort of transaction.
10:16 p.m. An Allsups caller reported a drunk man is at a gas pump.
10:45 p.m. A Calle Cielito Lindo caller said a man hit her in the face.
Don’t Eat Rocks
Oct. 5
4:54 a.m. An overdose was reported on Fog Road. The caller phoned again and said to cancel law enforcement because the woman fell and hit her head and went unconscious but is awake now.
9 a.m. A West Pueblo Street caller said a woman wearing a long jacket or robe is having a mental breakdown. She’s just standing there, picking at her hair and eating rocks or something.
10:58 a.m. A caller reported a man is unconscious and lying on the ground near Honey’s Nails. They also said a man in an SUV is receiving oral sex and they want an officer to patrol the area more.
11:25 a.m. A man’s death was reported in Alcalde.
12:13 p.m. An Alcalde caller said she reported her cameras were stolen last week, but no one ever showed up and she wants to speak with a deputy to file a report.
12:38 p.m. A caller reported meeting with a student who alleged her grandfather sexually abused her from fourth to eighth grade.
1:03 p.m. A caller said he’s been arguing with his girlfriend for a week and she’s accused him of raping her. He doesn’t know what to do because she’s still at his house.
3:24 p.m. An overdose was reported on Calle del Rio and North Railroad Avenue. Three doses of Narcan were administered.
3:54 p.m. A caller said two people with lots of tattoos in a car aimed a gun at a man in a truck.
4:38 p.m. A woman threw an item at a Walgreens employee, then left.
8:07 p.m. Someone in a truck fired shots near Romero’s Fruit Stand.
8:44 p.m. An overdose was reported in Hernandez.
11:55 p.m. An East Buena Vista caller said her ex cut the camera cords and damaged her vehicles.

Oct. 6
12:53 a.m. A caller reported two people are in the Dollar General in Hernandez parking lot with flashlights, looking into the store.
7:13 a.m. A Lumberton caller said she was almost rear-ended and run off the road by a truck.
8:25 a.m. A Northern New Mexico College caller reported a prospective student told a staff member that his brother-in-law threatened to shoot him in the head if he didn’t go to school.
9:07 a.m. An Abiquiú caller said someone has a drone hovering over her property.
4:53 p.m. A person went to EPD to file a report for stolen credit cards.
11:05 p.m. A Velarde caller reported hearing two gunshots.
11:09 p.m. A Fairview Lane caller said people are revving their vehicles and playing loud music.
Making a Mess
at Grandma’s
Oct. 7
6:13 a.m. A Chimayó caller wanted to file a report because his wife went crazy and assaulted him and threw things at him.
12:19 p.m. An East Jiron Street caller said a man staying at his house has been aggressive and threatened to physically harm the caller.
2:44 p.m. A customer at Pinch Penny Laundromat claimed they didn’t give him change. He was refusing to leave and causing problems.
2:58 p.m. A 16-year-old in Ohkay Owingeh was kicking the doors and making a mess at his grandparents’ house.
5:14 p.m. An El Caballo Quino Drive caller said someone broke into her house.
6:01 p.m. A North Calle Espinosa caller reported a man in her house broke the windows.
6:18 p.m. A Calle del Rio caller said he got into an argument with someone who’s sitting outside in a car. The car is running and the fumes are going into his house.
8:04 p.m. A West Winesap Drive caller reported children in the house were exposed to drugs. There was an overdose on marijuana laced with fentanyl.
9:25 p.m. A Velarde caller said a vehicle rolled over on it’s side.
9:45 p.m. A Speedway caller reported a man in a car took her wallet from her vehicle.
10:24 p.m. An Ohkay Casino caller said people took a wallet from the casino.

Oct. 8
8:21 a.m. A Bellas Lane caller reported her boyfriend is chasing her and hitting her.
10:18 a.m. A caller said two men in a vehicle were hitting a child on North Riverside Drive.
11:44 a.m. An Española Hospital caller reported losing her wallet.
11:57 a.m. A woman went to RASO to report her car was broken into.
12:45 p.m. An Alcalde caller reported his friend shot himself in the head sometime overnight. He said he went into the man’s house and found him dead.
12:56 p.m. A South Calle de Amor caller said there are squatters on his aunt’s property.
1:13 p.m. A caller reported people near Center Market are selling fake jewelry.
1:37 p.m. A Mesa Vista High School caller was possibly drunk. When his bag was searched, he had a smashed Twisted Tea can and a THC pen in it.
3:43 p.m. A Lindrith caller got a call from a family member that a cousin was going to confront his uncle with a gun and a knife.
6:18 p.m. A man’s death was reported on Inspiration Drive.
8:37 p.m. A Roosevelt Street caller said her brother is fighting with her.
9:18 p.m. A Truchas caller reported her roommate is drunk, wants to leave and is being belligerent.
