The police blotter is published to give readers an abridged look at criminal activity in their community and neighborhood. It is simply an illustration of what local law enforcement, funded by taxpayers, must deal with daily throughout the Española Valley.

Don’t Take
the Truck
Nov. 27
1:50 a.m. An Alcalde caller said she picked up her boyfriend from town and he was very drunk. She was speeding on the way home and got pulled over and ticketed by New Mexico State Police; once they got home, the arguing started and he kicked her out, then he left on a John Deere tractor.
2:11 a.m. Two vehicles were on fire on El Llano Road and fully engulfed.
3:21 a.m. All lanes on North Paseo de Oñate were closed after a semi and car were involved in a collision.
12:38 p.m. An Ohkay Bupingeh caller said an SUV drove into her yard and someone wrote on her aunt’s car.
1:33 p.m. An officer was doing courtesy rounds on Calle Rivera when he saw movement in a house. Two people were detained for breaking and entering.
4:14 p.m. A Calle Suazo caller reported his ex-wife is trying to take his truck.
5:53 p.m. A house on North Prince Drive was broken into and four guns were stolen.
8:22 p.m. A Dixon caller said he’s being harassed by the Neighborhood Watch and he has lead poisoning.
10:39 p.m. A Hernandez caller reported some people are trying to steal a catalytic converter.
It Was All a Dream
Nov. 28
6:57 a.m. An Abiquiú caller said they’re currently getting robbed and her uncle caught the thieves, then she heard a gunshot and isn’t sure if he was shot. State Police called back to cancel the ambulance and said the woman mixed medication and alcohol and the combination caused her to have dreams.
8:02 a.m. A caller reported her mother called and said she’s seeing Jesus and the devil. The caller requested a welfare check on her mother.
9:04 a.m. A Habitat for Humanity caller said the lock on the dumpster was broken.
9:34 a.m. A caller reported a homeless camp is at the end of the street in a vacant lot at North Monterey Lane.
9:34 a.m. A Medanales caller said he went to his ex-wife’s house to get his belongings and she went crazy and tried to hit him.
10:31 a.m. A Calle Rivera caller reported people are setting up tents in her neighbor’s yard.
11:02 a.m. An Abiquiú caller said there’s a car on it’s side and someone is trying to get out of the vehicle.
11:13 a.m. A caller reported a man wearing all black and carrying a machete and bags was walking behind Alicia’s Fine Jewelers.
12:20 p.m. A caller said a car almost hit her and when she honked at it, the driver pulled a gun.
12:36 p.m. A man was found to be in possession of drugs after he was pulled over near Century Bank.
1:42 p.m. A woman set up a tent near Ralph’s Locksmith.
2 p.m. A woman went to the Española Police Department to file a report for fraud.
2:33 p.m. A caller said a woman on Vietnam Veterans Memorial Road was screaming for help and asking people for their phones.
2:56 p.m. A Hernandez caller reported a group of men wearing hats and jackets are close to where the hippies live on Rim Road and he’s afraid they’re going to stab or shoot him, despite not seeing any weapons. He said they were casing his house and if the cops don’t do anything, he will call his friends, but he doesn’t want to put them in harm’s way. The caller phoned again and said nine men and three women were trying to get into his house.
3:46 p.m. A Pecos Valley Productions caller said a homeless person is setting up a campsite and they want them dispersed.
4:46 p.m. A Tierra Amarilla caller reported a package was delivered to the wrong address and they want to file a report.
5:49 p.m. A deputy followed a man to his house in Chimayó after the man said his house was being shot at.
7:09 p.m. An RV was on fire in Cañones.
11:20 p.m. A Hernandez caller requested patrols because there was a lot of traffic in the area.
Beaten by Police
Nov. 29
12:06 a.m. A Camino Real caller said people were having drinks at her house and now a man is irate, yelling, attacked her cousin earlier and is hitting vehicle with his fists and rocks.
12:56 a.m. An officer was out with a drunk woman at the gas pumps at the Ohkay Travel Center.
1:19 a.m. A man who was allegedly beaten by Ohkay Owingeh police was at the hospital with a broken wrist and wants to file charges.
3:19 a.m. A fentanyl overdose was reported on Calle Redonda. CPR was performed.
4:32 a.m. A caller reported two women in a Jeep at the Ohkay Casino were unconscious.
10:28 a.m. A Calle del Sol caller said she left her house on Thanksgiving and came back to find items had been stolen.
11:21 a.m. An Ohkay Owingeh caller found a window in her house broken and wants to file a report.
12:26 p.m. A caller said the lights are on in the San Pedro Shell and the doors are locked; they are concerned. The Shell manager said the employee locked the door while they went to the restroom.
12:59 p.m. A Pecos Valley Productions caller reported there are two homeless men on the property and they want them removed.
3:15 a.m. A caller said a woman with a tent has a campfire burning in a vacant lot on North Monterey Lane and is refusing to leave.
3:38 p.m. A Metro PCS caller reported a customer is calling her names and acting crazy.
4:27 p.m. A Pecos Valley Productions caller said a man keeps going onto the property and despite the police dispersing him, he keeps returning. The caller doesn’t want to be responsible if the man gets hit by a vehicle while standing on his property.
5:21 p.m. An Española Valley Church of Christ caller reported a broken window.
6:39 p.m. A caller said he’s on probation and is requesting the police to go lock him up.
7:52 p.m. A caller reported two children broke into the gym at the Community School in Ohkay Owingeh.
11:14 p.m. A Chimayó caller said their father is in the house, waving a gun around and threatened people there.
Threatening Medics
Nov. 30
1:13 a.m. An officer was flagged down by someone near Pollo Mexicana. He reported there was “nothing I can help with.”
10:29 a.m. A caller on Sunset Drive said her daughter is very drunk and being verbally abusive and combative.
12:03 p.m. An Española Valley Church of Christ caller wanted three people in a tent behind the building to be removed.
1:38 p.m. A Calle Las Tunas caller said a man in a truck put a gun to her boyfriend’s head.
1:53 p.m. A Velarde caller reported someone stole the tires off his brother’s vehicle.
3:01 p.m. A Youngsville caller wanted to file a report for a stolen credit card.
6:14 p.m. A Calle Elena caller said the oven is on fire and fully engulfed. Everyone was evacuated from the house.
6:55 p.m. A Walgreens caller reported a man took liquor and fled in a car.
7:07 p.m. An Alcalde caller said his trailer was stolen.
9:43 p.m. A Cañada Court caller reported a car is parked on the street and they think the people inside are smoking drugs. They are yelling at her to go back inside her house. A second caller said a strange smell was coming from the car.
10:42 p.m. A Velarde caller said a woman fell and is unconscious but breathing. The caller threatened medics, saying he’d use a gun; the medics said the man would fight with deputies.
10:55 p.m. A Calle Chavez caller reported a woman against whom they have a no contact order is there.
Imaginary Break-In
Dec. 1
12:51 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man lying on the side of the road near Dandy’s Burgers, with a bicycle between his legs.
6:06 a.m. An overdose was reported in Hernandez after a man did cocaine and fell in the shower. One dose of Narcan was administered.
8:02 a.m. A Coyote caller requested a welfare check on a man in a vehicle on the side of the road with the door open. The caller said there’s a fire on the side of the road and the man is slumped over the steering wheel.
8:26 a.m. An overdose was reported at a gas pump at the Santa Cruz Country Store. Two doses of Narcan were administered.
9:40 a.m. A Las Lomas Apartment caller said a woman was trying to damage a camera by throwing rocks and hitting it with a stick.
10:29 a.m. A Family Dollar in Abiquiú caller reported a broken window and the doors would not open.
11:02 a.m. An El Rito caller said someone broke into his house, beat his dog and stole his wallet. It was determined no crime had occurred and the man was going to be referred to Adult Protective Services.
12:14 p.m. A Little Caesar’s caller wanted to file a report because a DoorDasher picked up a pizza and never delivered it to the customer.
12:47 p.m. An Ash Loop caller reported two men and a woman were in a condemned house, yelling at each other.
1:53 p.m. The owner of a vacant lot next to Mariscos La Playa said there are homeless people setting up tents and they want them dispersed.
3:39 p.m. An Ohkay Express Mart caller said a man in a truck repeatedly slammed his door against the caller’s vehicle, then fled.
4:17 p.m. A CYFD caller wanted to file a report for her state-issued cellphone, which she could not find.
9:32 p.m. A caller reported there were two very drunk people by the gas pumps at the Santa Cruz Country Store.
Claiming to be God
Dec. 2
1:15 a.m. An overdose was reported in Hernandez. Three doses of Narcan were administered.
9:23 a.m. A North McCurdy Road caller said someone graffitied her wall.
9:49 a.m. A Calle Sombra caller reported a man is harassing him and telling him to move. The man then blocked the entrance with his truck.
11:06 a.m. A Walmart caller wanted a vendor to be trespassed because the man was harassing the manager.
11:15 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on people in a car with a baby at Black Mesa Winery. The parents were passed out and nodding.
12:03 p.m. A man requested a welfare check on a woman who went to his mother’s house, high and saying she was God.
12:12 p.m. A caller reported a man was walking on State Road 76 with a rifle.
2:20 p.m. A minor at Española Elementary was in possession.
3:56 p.m. An Alcalde caller said a man and woman are hiding in the bushes, doing drugs and they left their 6- or 7-year-old child alone on the side of the road.
5:21 p.m. A mobile home fire was reported in Medanales.
5:30 p.m. A man was panhandling at Center Market and they asked him to leave, but he refused.
7:32 p.m. A CVS caller said a couple was arguing.
7:38 p.m. A caller reported her husband stole her vehicle a while back and she reported it, but now he stole he license place and she wants to report that.
Talking to the Windows
Dec. 3
6:27 a.m. An officer picked up a woman who said her boyfriend tried to kill her and took her keys.
8:34 a.m. A Las Vegas Street caller reported his nephew hit him with a bat and took his car.
9:45 a.m. An irate woman was running in and out of El Rey Liquors. The caller phoned again to say she was also threatening customers and saying everyone is going to die in three minutes. A third call was placed, reporting the woman was back and crawling around on the ground outside, bothering customers.
9:55 a.m. A caller said two Española Valley High School students were going to beat someone up with brass knuckles and point a gun at someone’s head.
12:18 p.m. A caller from a dog rescue in Santa Fe said a woman from Truchas was fostering a dog and never returned it or paid the adoption fee.
2:45 p.m. A Big 5 caller reported a former employee is threatening the manager and they want to file a report.
2:48 p.m. A woman was panhandling and asking customers for money at Guadalupe Credit Union.
3:23 p.m. A caller said a man was screaming at a custodian at Española Valley High School.
5:05 p.m. A caller reported her 12-year-old niece groped her 16-year-old granddaughter while they were cleaning the church. She also reported her 8-year-old grandson was sexually assaulted.
6:07 p.m. A Fairview Lane caller said her cousin is going to her house and talking to the windows and doors and may be under the influence of drugs.
8:54 p.m. A Vallecitos caller reported a woman who’s allowed to stay there returned from Española and is acting weird. She turned on all the knobs for the propane and something sparked. She’s also speaking non-sense.
