The police blotter is published to give readers an abridged look at criminal activity in their community and neighborhood. It is simply an illustration of what local law enforcement, funded by taxpayers, must deal with daily throughout the Española Valley.

Satisfying That Sweet Tooth
Jan. 1
12:05 a.m. Two men were fighting in the Taco Bell parking lot.
12:06 a.m. An Alcalde caller said a bullet came through her wall.
12:19 a.m. A Cook’s Mobile Home Park caller reported a bullet came through the ceiling.
2:34 a.m. A caller said he was in Chimayó and two people were fighting.
3:09 a.m. A house fire was reported in Medanales.
9:25 a.m. A caller said there are several people camping out near the VA Clinic.
11:17 a.m. A drunk woman was being irate at the Pecos Valley Counseling office.
11:56 a.m. A man’s death was reported on County Road 6.
12:27 p.m. An Inspiration Drive caller said a man is parked behind her fence and he’s yelling and hitting a vehicle.
12:43 p.m. An Ojo Sarco caller reported a very drunk man jumped out of his sister’s car while it was in motion and he’s lying on the side of the road with a large gash on his head.
12:54 p.m. A Cook’s Mobile Home caller said the neighbor slashed their vehicle’s tires.
12:56 p.m. A Speedway caller reported a man in a truck stole cookies and cakes.
1:40 p.m. A Santa Clara Police officer searched a woman at Avanyu Travel Center and found a couple rocks of cocaine. The officer requested help from the Española Police Department, who declined.
2:11 p.m. An overdose was reported on Calle Loma. The caller said the man was walking with his eyes closed and talking and that he does drugs and takes medication.
4:17 p.m. An Abiquiú caller heard gunshots at a nearby house. The caller said the people who live there have lots of guns.
4:35 p.m. A Calle Redonda caller asked for a dispatcher to “send them.” When asked for the address, the caller said she didn’t know and to track her phone.
4:56 p.m. A man’s death was reported on Roosevelt Street.
10:29 p.m. A North Riverside Drive caller said the neighbors have been playing loud music and shooting off fireworks.
Can’t They Just Co-Parent?
Jan. 2
12:37 a.m. A man was shot in Hernandez. A BOLO was issued for a car possibly driven by the shooter.
7:46 a.m. A Garcia’s Auto caller reported a homeless camp on the side of the building.
10:30 a.m. A Calle Redonda caller said he was arrested last night and released this morning and when he went home, his house was trashed because officers executed a search warrant.
2:22 p.m. A Cook’s Mobile Home Park caller reported her son is being aggressive and threatened to kill her, then ran out of the house, chasing her with a shovel and trying to hit her in the head.
2:24 p.m. A Truchas caller said a woman is lying on the ground and they asked if she needed help, but she told them to go away.
3:21 p.m. A Calle Redonda caller reported her daughter’s boyfriend stole a Chihuahua from her house.
5:29 p.m. An Española Hospital caller said a person being detained by police got out of his room.
5:39 p.m. A woman went to EPD to report her son’s father for saying he was going to put a bullet in her head.
5:40 p.m. A Chimayó caller said his child’s mother is threatening him and saying she’s going to send people for him.
8:51 p.m. A State Road 76 caller reported someone is trying to break into his house through his back window.
9:52 p.m. A Calle del Alamo caller said a package was left as his door, he doesn’t know what it is, doesn’t trust it and would like to speak with an officer.
10:43 p.m. A woman on County Road 2, having suicidal ideations, was not breathing. Two doses of Narcan were administered and she began breathing again.
11:51 p.m. An Española Hospital caller reported an infant ingested narcotics. The Children, Youth and Families Department took custody of the child.

Jan. 3
6:58 a.m. A caller near Goodwill said a spider bit his ankle and he’s feeling dizzy, cold and disoriented.
8:50 a.m. A man built a fire near the air conditioning unit at the Dollar General in Hernandez.
11:46 a.m. A caller reported his vehicle was broken into and his gun was stolen.
11:59 a.m. A man was found dead in a lot on East Pueblo Street.
2:03 p.m. An Angel Duran Drive caller said there’s an unwanted woman living in the garage and she can’t walk. She refused to give her name and would randomly scream.
3:54 p.m. A Calle de Pajarito caller reported a man is lying on the ground behind his house and thinks it might be the neighbor.
4:48 p.m. An Allsups caller said a man is outside on a bicycle, possibly doing drug transactions.
5:01 p.m. A caller’s son told her that police impounded his vehicle last night, but she found out the car keys were stolen and someone saw the vehicle driving around town.
5:15 p.m. An East Pueblo Street caller said her son’s car was stolen from where he was found dead.
5:26 p.m. A very drunk man at El Rey Liquor was unable to stand.
5:30 p.m. A Mykal’s Vapor caller reported a possible drug user in front of the shop.
7:45 p.m. Two men were throwing things out of the dumpster near Wells Fargo.
7:47 p.m. A Medanales caller said there’s a van on the side of the road with a hazardous sticker on it and they want it checked out.
8:04 p.m. A man near Goodwill requested an ambulance because a bite on his hand was swollen.
10:13 p.m. A caller said someone pulled up near the Alcalde transfer station and is walking around with flashlights.
10:54 p.m. A caller wanted to speak with an officer because people in two vehicles followed them on their way home.

6:36 a.m. An Angel Duran Drive caller said a woman was trying to break into her vehicle.
8 a.m. A Coyote caller reported a 4-wheeler was stolen around 2 a.m.
10:12 a.m. A Tierra Amarilla caller said her dog was stolen from her truck at the Family Dollar.
10:40 a.m. A Sacred Heart Church caller called 911 and told dispatchers not to send the Española Police because he’d handle it himself. It’s not clear what he was going to handle.
12:12 p.m. A caller reported a woman was slumped over the wheel of a car parked at the Dollar General in Hernandez.
2:24 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a woman using a walker and wearing a thin dress, who was crossing the street near Washington Federal. The caller said it’s “unsafe” for her to be out.
3:56 p.m. A caller reported the owner of the Rio Chama Chevron and a customer are fighting.
4:11 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a woman sitting in a shopping cart by a stop sign in Alcalde. The responding deputy said the woman was reading a book and selling things, like a yard sale.
6:39 p.m. A Kentucky Fried Chicken manager reported there are people fighting outside. The responding officer said the fighters told him the fight was over some really good mac and cheese. They shook hands after the fight and neither party wanted to press charges.
8:03 p.m. An Española Hospital caller said a man is in the emergency room parking lot and won’t leave. He appears to be trying to enter the helicopter landing zone.
9:42 p.m. A caller reported an overdose in Dixon. They said the person was using crack and didn’t know what was in it.
11:11 p.m. A person flagged down an officer on State Road 76 and Santo Niño Lane because a man was lying in the road.
Toss the Baby Over the Fence
Jan. 5
12:37 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a woman wrapped in rags in a wheelchair. They said a man was pushing the wheelchair, but then ran away and left the woman in the road.
3:48 a.m. A Villa del Norte Apartments caller reported someone was trying to take his car battery.
9:17 a.m. A caller wanted to file a report for ID theft. She said her routing and checking account number was also obtained.
10:13 a.m. A report was taken at the Rio Arriba Sheriff’s Office for a stolen gun.
10:17 a.m. A Hernandez caller said the sewer lines at their house were not working and the landlord blamed them for clogging them. The landlord left them without a restroom and they had to use it in the trash.
10:21 a.m. A woman went to EPD to file a report for ID theft. She was trying to apply for Income Support Division benefits but someone in Utah is using her identity.
10:41 a.m. A Calle de las Yuccas caller said the neighbor hit their car and left. They think it was intentional.
11:21 a.m. A Hernandez caller reported a man broke their grandpa’s window.
11:22 a.m. A Coronado High School caller said someone broke in and stole computers from the elementary.
11:27 a.m. A China Kitchen caller reported a man was arguing with him, then started hitting him. The responding officer learned both men are employees and the argument started because of a language barrier, then escalated into a physical fight.
12:19 p.m. An O’Reilly’s caller said there are fraudulent charges on her bank account.
12:23 p.m. A Greenfield Road caller reported her client saw the neighbor throw a baby over the fence at a nearby house.
12:24 p.m. A La Mesilla caller said his father got mad at him because his shower was dirty and he began hitting him.
12:28 p.m. A man’s death was reported in Hernandez.
12:41 p.m. A DNCU Operations Center caller said a man who seems out of it was climbing the fence and going onto the property.
2:05 p.m. A Fairview Lane caller reported a man is back on their property, is blocking the entrance and is setting up camp.
2:31 p.m. A Camino Cielo Grande caller said someone is inside a trailer that’s supposed to be vacant.
4:19 p.m. A woman went to EPD to report that she lost her ID at the DMV and is afraid her identity will be stolen.
7:02 p.m. A Las Lomas Apartments caller said a truck ran through the exit gate and the driver was caught. They think he was trying to take stuff.
That’s a Lot of Weed
Jan. 6
4:20 a.m. An ember from a fireplace caused a house fire in Tierra Amarilla.
8:02 a.m. An RTD caller found a gallon bag of marijuana on the bus and wanted to turn it in or be told how they could dispose of it.
12:52 p.m. A caller said her nephew is unstable and is threatening to shoot the family and might be suicidal.
1:26 p.m. A caller reported a woman was throwing trash and clothes at a vehicle driving near Avanyu Travel.
1:48 p.m. A Family Dollar in Chimayó caller said a person in a truck is smoking drugs.
2:29 p.m. An overdose was reported on Juniper Lane. The caller said a man took drugs and is freaking out and getting aggressive. Narcan was administered.
2:38 p.m. A possible break-in was reported at a house in Hernandez.
3:18 p.m. A 16-year-old was found under the Oñate Bridge. The teen’s family was called and his father followed an officer to the detention center.
8:15 p.m. A Dollar General in Alcalde caller said a woman wearing an orange reflective vest is in the store and asked for an ambulance, but wouldn’t say why she needed one. She told the caller she’s been harassed for five years.
8:20 p.m. A brown bull was seen walking around the convento.
9:03 p.m. Two non-Native men were fighting at the Santa Claran Casino Hotel. They were trespassed.
10:26 p.m. A Tierra Amarilla caller said his father is drunk, belligerent and threatening them.
Dogs Bother the Deer
Jan. 7
2:08 a.m. A Calle Lopez caller reported a neighbor stole another neighbor’s propane tank.
7:07 a.m. A Keith Street caller wanted a 911 dispatcher to stay on the line until she left a house. When asked what was going on, the woman said she just wants 911 to stay on the line while she left.
7:28 a.m. A deer went through the windshield of an SUV that hit it in Velarde.
7:51 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a 7-year-old girl with a backpack, who was walking in the median.
8:15 a.m. A Hernandez caller said her daughter-in-law is irate, being aggressive and hitting her husband.
8:26 a.m. A State Road 76 caller reported a 10-month-old baby fell off the bed and was bleeding from the back of the head.
11:33 a.m. A La Mesilla caller said a man in the back of a truck was pointing a rifle as the truck traveled along County Road 106.
12:50 p.m. A Calle Chueco caller reported their daughter got “too crazy” and broke several things.
1:14 p.m. An overdose was reported in Chamita.
1:25 p.m. A caller said dogs are bothering the deer.
2:36 p.m. A State Road 399 caller reported a man riding a bicycle has an AR15 rifle with what appears to be a silencer on it. The responding deputy said the man had a pellet gun.
2:44 p.m. A caller said fraudulent charges were made at Walmart on a company credit card.
4:16 p.m. A Hernandez caller heard a gunshot, then a child screaming.
11:52 p.m. A caller said a woman is walking up and down the road near Jemez View Street and North McCurdy Road.
