The police blotter is published to give readers an abridged look at criminal activity in their community and neighborhood. It is simply an illustration of what local law enforcement, funded by taxpayers, must deal with daily throughout the Española Valley.

Dec. 18
12:18 a.m. A Santa Claran Casino Hotel caller wanted an officer to arrest someone who had fentanyl near the casino entrance.
9:45 a.m. A Camino Santa Cruz and McCurdy Lane caller requested courtesy rounds because a woman and man on a bicycle were going down the street, stealing packages.
11:06 a.m. A Hernandez caller reported a man is carrying a rifle.
12:26 p.m. A house fire was reported in Chama.
1:03 p.m. A firefighter was flagged down by a woman who said there were two children in a vehicle, screaming near Valdez Park.
1:38 p.m. A report for fraud was taken at the Rio Arriba Sheriff’s Office.
2:24 p.m. A caller said his rental vehicle was stolen.
2:55 p.m. A caller reported a woman dressed like Santa was walking on North McCurdy Road and El Llano Road.
3:29 p.m. A caller said a man was trying to break into a phone box on Fairview Lane.
4:12 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on people in a white truck in Velarde because a woman was hitting them.
4:19 p.m. A Santa Fe County deputy rolled up on a three-vehicle collision near the Santa Cruz Country Store.
4:43 p.m. A Dairy Queen caller said a homeless man was walking in front of the door and not letting customers into the building.
5:42 p.m. A truck crashed near Hernandez Elementary and went down the embankment.
5:59 p.m. A Community School Road caller said her 44-year-old is on drugs, paranoid and trying to leave the house. She locked herself in the bathroom.
6:12 p.m. A Calle de Pajarito caller reported an 8-year-old child is flipping them off, hitting the walls and hitting them.
10:15 p.m. A Rio Arriba Detention Center caller said an inmate hit a guard and broke his nose.
10:28 p.m. A Little Caesar’s caller reported a man is being aggressive toward employees.
11:59 p.m. An overdose was reported in Hernandez.

7:38 a.m. A McDonald’s caller said a woman ordered food and doesn’t have money, but won’t leave. They wanted her trespassed.
9 a.m. A Mountain Air Cleaners caller reported someone started a fire this morning.
9:13 a.m. A Tesuque Court caller got a call from someone who said her daughter was in a crash and they needed to pick her up at Walmart.
9:19 a.m. A Denny’s caller said a woman told him she was going to “split” his throat.
10:07 a.m. A woman went to the Sheriff’s Office and wanted to report child abuse.
10:13 a.m. An East Shadowood Lane caller said her vehicle was stolen either yesterday or this morning.
10:18 a.m. A Camino del Sol caller reported a man against whom she has a restraining order was sitting on her couch when she got home.
12:11 p.m. A caller said his vehicle was hit an hour ago at Walmart.
12:55 p.m. An El Rito caller found a woman that had broken into a cabin and had been exposed to the elements. The caller was going to take her to Las Clinicas del Norte.
2:25 p.m. A Center Market caller said a man was panhandling in the parking lot and refused to leave.
2:27 p.m. A Dixon caller reported a large rock was in the northbound lane.
2:56 p.m. A Dairy Queen caller said there’s a vehicle outside that they think is stolen and two people are doing drugs.
3:16 p.m. A Chamita caller reported there was a knock at the door and when he went to open it, a man he doesn’t know tried to get into his house.
5:48 p.m. A deputy said he was going to remove a white camper shell that was on the road near the Rio Chama Chevron.
6:31 p.m. A Starbucks caller reported a man was harassing customers in the drive-thru and asking for money.
9:09 p.m. An officer was going to try and speak with people in a condemned house on Calle Vigil and get them out of it.
10:20 p.m. A non-tribal man was in possession of drugs at the Santa Claran Casino Hotel.
10:56 p.m. A Chimayó caller requested a welfare check because their mother’s boyfriend was provoking their friend. When the friend tried to get out of the vehicle, the boyfriend pinned him down.

7:19 a.m. A Hindi Lane caller said her son is physically trying to fight her.
8:22 p.m. A State Road 76 caller reported a vehicle was stolen.
11:36 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a woman running across the highway near the Ohkay Casino and trying to stop cars.
12:11 p.m. A caller said the doors at city hall were wide open.
12:52 p.m. A Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park Road caller reported a drunk man is in front of the hospital and is refusing to get in the car.
1:54 p.m. An overdose was reported in Coyote.
2:35 p.m. An Alcalde caller said a man on an ATV ran over her.
4:22 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a woman passed out in a car near Pizza 9. The responding officer said the woman overdosed and had a pipe in her hand. Narcan was administered.
5:34 p.m. An Ohkay Express Mart caller reported a man ran into the road and tried to get in her vehicle when she slowed down.
6 p.m. A McDonald’s caller said a man went into the business and yelled at employees.
6:37 p.m. A Lowe’s Home Improvement caller reported a very drunk man was yelling at people in the parking lot.
6:46 p.m. A Paseo de Paulina caller reported a man is behind the mobile home park and he said he’s collecting wood. He’s moving branches from one tree to another.
7:18 p.m. A Dixon caller said a window on his house is broken.
8:42 p.m. A Hernandez caller reported someone took her cousin’s purse from her vehicle.
11:38 p.m. A South McCurdy caller said a man was trying to crawl over the wall to get to a patio.
Weird Boyfriend
Dec. 21
Midnight A caller reported seven or eight people had a bonfire burning and there was underage drinking at Prairie Dog. The caller also said a man was waving a knife around.
8:43 a.m. An Alcalde caller said her boyfriend keeps doing weird things and won’t let her sleep. She thinks he might be on drugs.
1:13 p.m. A man went to check on his neighbor on Arroyo Flats Road and found him dead.
1:54 p.m. A T-Mobile caller said a woman in a vehicle almost hit them and began recording them, then said she was going to get them fired. She also jumped out of her vehicle and didn’t put it in park.
2:58 p.m. An Alcalde caller reported his “kind of” girlfriend is trying to cut his throat with a hacksaw. He said he doesn’t really know her, so he can’t provide her last name.
5:03 p.m. An Abiquiú Inn caller said an elderly man was in the café and told employees he was dumped there and doesn’t know where his next destination is. The responding deputy took him to the emergency room to be evaluated.
5:45 p.m. A McDonald’s caller reported a woman was smoking fentanyl in the restroom. They told her to leave, but she began arguing.
6:44 p.m. A caller said they saw a McDonald’s manager and a customer fighting.
7:52 p.m. A Hernandez caller reported people are trying to get into her house.
8:54 p.m. A caller phoned dispatch to say he was stuck in his vehicle, but he stopped responding. Rio Grande Volunteer Fire Department was paged out and they drove the man’s vehicle to the Prairie Dog entrance because he was drunk. They stayed with him to make sure he wouldn’t leave.
Don’t Urinate at the Mortuary
Dec. 22
12:33 a.m. An Alcalde caller said her daughter’s boyfriend is fighting with the caller’s husband.
8:07 a.m. A caller reported a man against whom she has a restraining order has been calling her from jail.
10:11 a.m. A Rivera Funeral Home caller said a man has been urinating on the property and they want him trespassed.
11:40 a.m. A woman went to the Española Police Department and wanted to speak to an officer because she needs protection from the National Guard.
11:50 a.m. A Santo Niño Lane caller said he’s been fixing up his property and the neighbors are breaking in.
2:24 p.m. A Walgreens caller reported a homeless man she believes is selling drugs is in front of the building.
2:29 p.m. A caller said the fence behind the water tower at Española Valley High School was thrown down.
2:44 p.m. A La Mesilla caller reported a truck has been there for the last hour and a person inside it was yelling and cussing.
4:02 p.m. A Taco Bell caller said a mini van won’t move from the drive-thru and someone threw a drink at the window.
4:06 p.m. A caller reported two lowrider bikes were stolen in Santa Fe and she was sent a photo of a man who was trying to sell them at Food King.
4:24 p.m. A caller said her business card was used at the Santa Cruz Country store several times since October.
5:01 p.m. A Hernandez caller reported there are a lot of homeless people at a house and he thinks a man is selling them drugs.
6:32 p.m. An Oliver’s General Store caller said a man in a camouflage jumpsuit with two Pitbulls pulled a pistol on her nephew.
7:30 p.m. A Food King caller reported a man and woman were fighting in the parking lot.
10:59 p.m. A woman’s death was reported in Alcalde.
Rocks Shouldn’t be Eaten
Dec. 23
7:14 a.m. A caller said a man on a bicycle left the bike near Camino de Quintana and went to a house on Calle Redonda, where he believes the man is buying drugs.
9:38 p.m. A Calle del Rio caller reported his wife’s ex is threatening to go to the house and physically harm him and his family.
10:24 p.m. A caller said he was dating a girl and didn’t know she was married, and now he’s getting threatening phone calls from her husband.
10:27 a.m. A caller reported getting a text last night that said, “Hi I know where you live I am coming to kill you.”
Noon A Hernandez caller said someone broke into his house and took a generator, TV, two propane heaters, a car battery charger and Bluetooth speakers.
12:21 p.m. A caller reported her mother-in-law is at her house and is not supposed to be there.
12:35 p.m. A Hoy Recovery caller said a man is questioning authority at his job and he’s a disgruntled employee.
4:21 p.m. A North Monterey Lane caller reported a woman told him a man was dead at a homeless encampment. Officers were unable to find the dead person.
4:22 p.m. A caller said a person driving erratically in Ohkay Owingeh threw a bottle at another vehicle.
7:47 p.m. A woman was at Food King and thought someone outside was trying to get her.
7:51 p.m. A Calle Don Francisco caller said a man was throwing rocks. The man was also stacking rocks and trying to eat them.
11:34 p.m. A Pizza Hut caller reported a vehicle is revving and doing burnouts.
Gunshots or Fireworks?
Dec. 24
7:58 a.m. A caller said he was in a road rage incident with a man in a car. The man pulled into his house near the Rio Chama Chevron and pulled a gun, then pointed it at the caller as he was driving by. The man then began to follow the caller.
11:03 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man lying on the side of the bridge in Alcalde. The responding deputy said the man was drunk.
1 p.m. An Alcalde caller said a man went to her house and took her tools.
1:32 p.m. A woman went to EPD to file a report because a girl is harassing her and her mother and sending them text messages and calling them.
4:48 p.m. A Habitat for Humanity caller said two people are possibly trying to break into the dumpster.
5:13 p.m. A Vista Place caller reported a man was having a seizure. When medics arrived, the man became combative with them.
7:58 p.m. A caller said a man against whom she has a restraining order contacted her and she wants to file a police report.
8:15 p.m. A Calle de Pajarito caller reported a woman is harassing her. The caller phoned again and said she didn’t want to talk to the police anymore.
8:41 p.m. A Hernandez caller said a man is very drunk and trying to hurt himself. He is punching himself and acting erratic; they are holding him down.
11:22 p.m. A Pima Road caller reported hearing 38 gunshots by the tank at Española Valley High School. The responding officer said it wasn’t gunshots they heard, but fireworks.
11:46 p.m. A Tesuque Drive and South McCurdy Road caller said an electric pole was on fire.
