Caller Claims to Have Two, Two-Inch Tall Friends

The police blotter is published to give readers an abridged look at criminal activity in their community and neighborhood. It is simply an illustration of what local law enforcement, funded by taxpayers, must deal with daily throughout the Española Valley.

 Española Police officers, Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies or State Police responded to the following calls:

  

Midnight Moaning

Jan. 15

3:44 a.m. A State Road 76 caller said she could hear someone moaning behind her house and it’s been going on since midnight.

8:42 a.m. A generator at the Española Hospital was leaking diesel.

9:31 a.m. A man at Allsups was refusing to leave and harassing customers.

9:44 a.m. A patient at the Española Hospital left on foot in a hospital gown and an IV in place.

9:51 a.m. A caller wanted several homeless people at an encampment between Los Victors and the RTD building to be dispersed.

10:12 a.m. An Allsup’s caller said a man stole ice cream.

10:17 a.m. A report for minor in possession and an overdose was taken at Española Valley High School.

10:50 a.m. A St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church caller said a shed was broken into overnight and tools and other things were taken. The caller phoned again to say they found some of the stolen items in a culvert by the church.

11:47 a.m. A Hernandez caller reported her boyfriend is threatening to go to her house and damage property.

11:54 a.m. A woman went to the Española Police Department to file a report because her Del Norte Credit Union account was hacked.

12:09 p.m. An eighth grade student at Mesa Vista High School was in possession of marijuana.

12:22 p.m. A truck damaged the walls on the CVS drive-thru.

12:23 p.m. A man pulled a gun on a woman and her boyfriend at Big 5. 

3:16 p.m. A head-on collision was reported in Ohkay Owingeh. One vehicle involved was trying to leave the area.

3:53 p.m. A house was on fire on Calle Del Rio.

5:16 p.m. A BOLO was issued for a Jeep after a man stole two power tools totaling $900 from a hardware store in White Rock.

5:40 p.m. An overdose was reported on Fairview Lane. Three doses of Narcan were administered.

7:32 p.m. A Little Caesar’s caller said there are several homeless people outside that have been asked to leave but refuse. The caller said they are surrounding a car.

9:01 p.m. A Lower San Pedro Road caller reported hearing gunshots in the area.

11:09 p.m. A Camino de Mision caller said he’s on probation and drunk, but he will come out willingly.

Giant, Killer Chihuahuas

Jan. 16

6:29 a.m. A man on Lower San Pedro Road and E. Santa Clara Bridge Road called 911 to report that he was shot in Pajarito and was waiting in a white car.

9:17 a.m. A Coyote caller received a call from a woman who said the caller’s daughter hit her son with a trash can. A man in the background could be heard saying he was going to “shoot a b*tch.”

10:33 a.m. An officer opened a call at the Ohkay Community School for child neglect.

12:13 p.m. An Española Valley High School caller said a man is refusing to sign out a student.

1:24 p.m. An East Jonathan Drive caller reported three giant Chihuahuas killed her cat and got aggressive with her neighbor.

2:39 p.m. A man called 911 and said he needs help because he’s walking and doesn’t know where he’s at. 

3:22 p.m. A man was drinking outside of Goodwill.

3:39 p.m. A Family Dollar in Abiquiú caller requested that an employee be charged with theft.

3:54 p.m. A Peace Keepers caller said two people are doing drugs and shoving items under the grate.

3:54 p.m. A Hernandez caller reported someone stole her son’s truck and rammed the fence.

4:40 p.m. A State Road 581 caller said someone tried to get onto their property and steal a catalytic converter.

5 p.m. A Calle del Sol caller said the landlord told them someone is using their mom’s Social Security number.

9:29 p.m. A man near Romero’s Fruit Stand was having alcohol withdrawals and was transported to the hospital.

El Rito Peeper

Jan. 17

10:02 a.m. An Alcalde caller reported his grandmother’s utility trailer was stolen last night.

10:52 a.m. A person left Walmart with a shopping cart and was told to return it or they’d be criminally charged.

11:57 a.m. A Walmart caller requested a welfare check on a pantsless woman who urinated in the parking lot. The caller phoned again and said the woman was completely naked and banging her head on a vehicle. A third caller said the woman was in and out of consciousness.

12:57 p.m. A Pet Sense caller said his hubcaps have been getting stolen while he’s at work.

2:03 p.m. A caller reported a woman is face-down on the ground at Calle del Rio and North Railroad Avenue.

2:53 p.m. A Keith Street caller said her vehicle is parked at her grandmother’s house and people are stripping the vehicle.

3:27 p.m. A Coyote caller reported two people from Texas are stuck in the snow.

5:28 p.m. A 911 call was placed from somewhere in Tierra Amarilla and a child was crying, then another child said “help us” before the line disconnected.

6:34 p.m. An Amazon van went off the road on Godfrey Lane and got stuck.

6:36 p.m. A Hernandez caller said someone cut the fence in a possible attempt to steal wood.

7:30 p.m. An Abiquiú caller reported having a physical altercation with her husband in which he hit her in the face, pulled her around and told her not to tell 911 what happened.

9:41 p.m. An El Rito caller saw someone peeking in her window.

11:05 p.m. An Abiquiú caller said their son is drunk and causing problems. They said he gets violent when he drinks.

Fighting Over Money

Jan. 18

2:29 a.m. An Ohkay Casino caller reported security was assaulting their family members.

3:45 a.m. A Speedway caller said an SUV tried to run over them.

12:18 p.m. A Santa Claran Casino caller said two men were beating up another man. The responding officer said one of the men told him they were fighting over money.

1:09 p.m. An East Jiron Street caller requested a welfare check on his neighbor who usually walks around. He said she does fentanyl and today people went to her house but she didn’t open the door and he’s concerned. The responding officer said the woman was in jail.

3:39 p.m. A Center Market caller said a man was refusing to leave.

6:47 p.m. A Tierra Amarilla caller reported a man is not waking up but is breathing. Narcan was administered and the man responded.

11:51 p.m. A Taco Bell caller wanted an officer to make sure there was no damage to the drive-thru because a truck towing a trailer went through it.

Bothering People at Starbucks

Jan. 19

4:36 a.m. An overdose was reported at the Alcalde Post Office after a woman took methadone.

9:48 a.m. A Velarde caller said the neighbors are harassing her again because the court date is approaching. She said there’s a no contact order in place.

10:27 a.m. A woman went to the Rio Arriba Sheriff’s Office to report an online scam.

Noon A caller wanted an officer to check on an 11-year-old Velarde girl because she was reported as a potential school shooter with access to firearms.

1:03 p.m. A Medanales caller said his vehicle started on fire.

3:08 p.m. A Tierra Amarilla caller reported he has an open case with New Mexico State Police about death threats and they aren’t doing anything about it. He wants to speak with a deputy, face-to-face.

3:36 p.m. An ALC Global caller said a woman is in front of the building and is yelling and trying to fight a man.

4:14 p.m. A Starbucks caller reported a group of people are walking up to cars and bothering people.

4:26 p.m. An Alcalde caller said there’s a car on their property and they think it might be stolen.

4:55 p.m. A Chamita caller reported her uncle hit her, so she beat him.

7:07 p.m. An Española Hospital patient wanted to file a report for an assault that happened at Mesa Vista High School.

Where the Donkeys and Bulls Roam

Jan. 20

9:13 a.m. A Fairview Sonic caller said a man and woman are asleep in a Jeep at one of the stalls. The driver of the Jeep fled and led police on a chase.

9:38 a.m. A Calle Cunyo caller reported people in a white camper trailer near the river are selling drugs.

12:34 p.m. A woman went to EPD to file a report for battery.

1:34 p.m. A woman went to EPD to file a report for harassment. She has a temporary restraining order on a woman who is harassing her on social media.

2:21 p.m. A T-Mobile caller said a man is trying to fight with an employee.

2:34 p.m. An El Guique caller reported her neighbor is vandalizing multiple properties and there’s been an ongoing issue for four years.

5:59 p.m. A Po Pay Avenue caller wanted to speak with an officer and file a report because her 9-year-old child was assaulted three years ago.

6:44 p.m. A Villa del Norte Apartments caller said they have two friends that are two inches tall.

8:14 p.m. Assistance was requested at the Santa Claran Casino Hotel because meth was found on a man.

8:48 p.m. A caller said there was a bull in the road near Northern New Mexico College. Los Alamos dispatch then said there was a donkey in the southbound lane.

11:02 p.m. An Abiquiú caller reported her son is high on drugs and knocking on the door.

11:22 p.m. An Allsups caller said an employee claimed to have seen her on camera, stealing cold medicine, but won’t show her the footage.

Mystery Cousin

Jan. 21

4:43 a.m. A caller reported a man is wearing all black and running into traffic near Walgreens.

10:04 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a woman who left home this morning with a photo of her dead aunt, saying she was going to see her at the cemetery.

11:12 a.m. A man on Jemez View Street suspected of overdosing was given one dose of Narcan.

3:18 p.m. A Calle Redonda caller said the cameras from his property were stolen.

3:38 p.m. An EZ-Way Laundromat caller reported a man went up to her and tried to grab her.

3:38 p.m. A Santa Clara Police officer said a woman reported a 9-year-old was assaulted by two men at Fairview Elementary.

4:05 p.m. A Chimayó caller reported meeting a man on Facebook to buy a car. The man got disorderly with her and followed her home and now will not let her leave. She said the man is her cousin but she doesn’t know his name.

4:44 p.m. An officer was off with two men who were fighting at Goodwill.

10:12 p.m. A BOLO was issued for a Jeep Cherokee because the driver was suspected of taking items from a hardware store in Los Alamos.

10:38 p.m. A suspected overdose was reported at a bar inside the Santa Claran Casino Hotel.
