Santa Cruz Irrigation District Board member Manuel Quintana Jr. is apparently safe in his seat after running for re-election with no opposition.
“Nobody ran against him, so I’m assuming he won,” Board Chair Kenneth Salazar said.
Unofficial results were not available Tuesday. Like many offices throughout Española, the District was closed and did not return calls.
The election for Quintana’s seat, which represents acequias in Chimayó, La Puebla and Quarteles, was held Monday. Salazar said he voted around 2 p.m. and only 17 ballots had been cast. There isn’t much excitement when there’s no opposition, Salazar said.
Salazar said the Board will canvass the results Dec. 16.
