Recently an article was published concerning my wife and I and the Chief of the Espanola Police Department. First off, I would like to suggest that some research be done before you present a full article that is published and reported.
Here are a few facts that were left out. First, the Chief as not recruiting, I had previously applied with the department, and the employment process was pending. Second, we made a joint decision in her not aiding the state in any prosecution because of the nature of the incident, which was mutual. Third, the D.A.’s office had the option to prosecute, and did not based on the evidence which was clearly, professionally, and unbiasedly presented by the responding agency to the LEA board and to the D.A.’s office.
Also, it must be noted that we strongly object to my wife being portrayed as a weak and cow towing and being forced not to prosecute, and who does not have a will or intelligence of her own in making these decisions, when in fact, she carries the dominant role in the relationship which we both embrace. I resigned from my previous employment because it was the right thing to do to do and we have both taken steps to address our individual and shared issues. Please be as fervent concerning this correspondence as you were in naming names and further besmirching already damaged relationships and a Chief who was not at fault in any way.
