Your article is out there and we can not change that anymore.
I fondly remember when the Rio Grande SUN covered little league games in the mid-1960s and provided weekly scores and rankings. Life was much simpler back then and the league had only eight teams with a total of 120 children. Teams were supported by businesses like JW Owens, Pueblo Drugs, Fairview Drugs, Hunter Ford and People’s.
I do want to thank you for covering opening day ceremonies this weekend, however I ask that you cover some of the games this season, please see and report on the positive that is going on. We have one of the largest leagues in the state.
There are 16 dedicated individual board members and their spouses, and over 100 coaches that give a lot of their time, energy and money to our community to make sure the 700 plus youth we service are provided with a high quality experience. Do not let the actions of a single adult from over two years ago ruin this for the children and reflect poorly on the good that does go on.
All of us put more of our own personal money into the league. Some coaches buy their team’s uniforms and equipment or take the children to an Isotopes game.
We are not a den of thieves. Playing well with each other might be a different point but that happens in any organization with more than one person. However, we constantly remind ourselves who we are doing this for and the answer is always the children and this community.
