DON ROMERO,
56, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2009 from natural causes while fishing in the mountains of Colorado. He was preceded in death by his father, Juan Pedro Romero; oldest brother, Pete Romero Jr.; sister, Elizabeth Mallery; twin brother, Ronald L. Romero; grandparents, Tobias and Bersabe Romero and Jose Elias Miera and Magdelena Martinez Miera. He was born in Santa Fe, NM and lived in Denver, CO. His passion was fishing, and he was a fabulous cook. He also had a great sense of humor, loved helping others and had a very rich social life. He graduated from Gallup High School, NM, 1972 and received a BA in Business Administration from Regis University in Denver, Colorado. He worked as a Journeymen Millwright in the past and had worked at Citicorp for many years, most recently as a loan officer. He will be greatly missed by relatives and his many friends. Mr. Romero is survived by his daughter, Natasha Romero; mother, Eufelia Miera Romero; brothers and sisters, Simmie Boehm and husband Ross, Albert Romero, Bernadette Riess and husband Andrew, Brenda M. Romero, Martha Romero, Robert Romero and wife Kim; girlfriend, Carol Byers and many wonderful nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Public visitation was held on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, July 20, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde with family and close friends serving as pallbearers. The reception was held in the parish hall following the mass. Cremation followed services.
