The police blotter is published to give readers an abridged look at criminal activity in their community and neighborhood. It is simply an illustration of what local law enforcement, funded by taxpayers, must deal with daily throughout the Española Valley.

1:15 a.m. An overdose was reported in El Rito.
1:36 a.m. A man in an SUV brandished an assault rifle at Food King employees.
8:50 a.m. A caller reported a homeless man kicked a woman he was walking with near the Ohkay Tribal Lakes.
10:21 a.m. A Santa Cruz Country Store caller said she was punched in the face by another employee.
10:34 a.m. A Hernandez caller reported her 50-year-old son won’t give her the keys to her vehicle or take her to her doctor’s appointment.
12:48 p.m. A Harley Lane caller heard people in their bedroom and said they may have gone out the window.
2:08 p.m. An El Guique caller reported someone in a Corvette was “driving like an idiot.”
2:39 p.m. A drunk man fell on the sidewalk outside Alon and couldn’t walk.
3:07 p.m. A man was aggressively waving a stick around on N.M. 399.
4:51 p.m. A woman allegedly admitted to taking $2,000 in cash over a period of time from Lowe’s Home Improvement.
5:45 p.m. A caller reported a person in a vehicle on County Road 56 looks shady and wants deputies to check it out.
6 p.m. A Medanales caller noticed the latch on her shed was broken and items were missing.
11:22 p.m. Two men were trying to steal a vehicle in the Allsups parking lot.

12:23 a.m. A customer’s card was declined at McDonald’s and they started arguing with an employee, then threw a drink at them and fled.
1:58 a.m. The customer from the previous call returned to McDonald’s and was hitting the windows, then fled.
8:40 a.m. A Medanales caller said her stepfather won’t leave and is threatening them with a gun.
8:44 a.m. A CYFD caller requested a welfare check on a child who was taken to the emergency room for a THC overdose. The mother allegedly admitted to giving the child THC and is not answering the phone.
9:15 a.m. A CYFD caller requested a welfare check on a woman who admitted to doing fentanyl and has an infant.
10:34 a.m. A caller reported a man was pulling a woman by the hair on Calle Don Eduardo.
11:06 a.m. A caller said a group of six motorcyclists was traveling in Vallecitos, when one fell and possibly broke his leg.
12:24 p.m. A dog was stolen at Goodwill.
1:22 p.m. A Dixon caller reported two people are banging on the gate and yelling, “come out, come out.”
2:03 p.m. A caller said a man was sleeping on the porch of the Bond House.
3:03 p.m. An East Shadowood Lane caller reported her gun was missing from her vehicle.
6:53 p.m. A caller said several homeless people were camping out by the Wendy’s dumpster.
7:42 p.m. A Medanales caller reported his stepfather is trying to get into the house.
9:11 p.m. A Chimayó caller said a man is drunk, driving by the house and trying to harass a grandmother.
9:48 p.m. A caller reported an old co-worker is texting and harassing her.
11:58 p.m. A Calle Don Pedro caller said his girlfriend is out of control.

2:45 a.m. A caller reported a police unit might be wrecked in Santa Clara and there’s an officer inside. The State Police reported that the unit was parked there by the Santa Clara Police Department and there’s a dummy inside.
10:46 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man walking around in Velarde, yelling about Jesus and demons.
12:01 p.m. A Chama caller said a man tried to assault him and chased him to the neighbor’s house.
12:48 p.m. A State Road 76 caller requested a welfare check on her tenant, who had not been seen in four or five days. The man was found on the ground, not conscious or breathing and the Office of the Medical Investigator was called.
1:04 p.m. A Chimayó caller reported his brother went to his house and pulled a pellet gun on him and harassed him.
1:37 p.m. A caller said there’s something wrapped in a sheet, lying on a pillow under the bridge near the Rio Chama Chevron and it stinks. The responding deputy said it was a comforter with dead mice in it.
2:45 p.m. A caller reported his girlfriend and friend were kayaking on the Chama River north of Abiquiú Lake and got lost and can’t get back.
3:02 p.m. A caller said a woman is smoking something off a foil at Murphy’s Express.
7:50 p.m. A Private Drive 1338 caller reported a gun and other valuables were stolen.
7:51 p.m. A death notice was delivered to La Mesilla.
8:24 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man dancing in the median on State Road 76 and North Riverside Drive because it appears that he might go into traffic.
9:06 p.m. Two people were smoking something behind Fairview Pharmacy.
11:15 p.m. An ambulance was requested at the Ohkay Casino after a woman involved in an altercation was punched in the nose.

12:40 a.m. A Starlighter Loop caller said tools were taken from the back of his truck.
1:37 a.m. A Santa Claran Casino Hotel caller reported a non-tribal man had two syringes next to him at the hotel entrance.
11:59 a.m. A caller said a woman with dementia is yelling, screaming and trying to drive off in a vehicle.
12:02 p.m. A caller reported her ex-husband went over uninvited and she’s receiving threatening calls from his mom and brother, who say they are going to kill her.
12:48 p.m. A traffic stop was attempted in Dixon but the vehicle fled.
1:17 p.m. A Vallecitos caller said their house was broken into and several items are missing.
2:17 p.m. An Alcalde caller reported their granddaughter is having a mental breakdown. She’s running through the house naked and screaming and is carrying a stick.
3:45 p.m. An overdose was reported on North Railroad Avenue. Narcan was administered and CPR was performed but the man died.
4:30 p.m. A patient at the emergency room left on foot, wearing a hospital gown.
5:28 p.m. Deputies responded to a call for a possible kidnapping victim that was found in El Rito.
5:53 p.m. A caller reported a man is on a porch on North Riverside Drive and appears to be cooking drugs.
5:56 p.m. A BOLO was issued for a woman with no shoes on who left the Española Hospital.
6:17 p.m. A caller said a woman followed her cousin home from work and was trying to run her off the road.
7:23 p.m. A State Road 369 caller reported someone threw rocks at his truck last night and scratched it.
7:23 p.m. A Velarde caller said they had a recording of the neighbor threatening them.
7:24 p.m. A caller reported their niece broke their windshield.
8:14 p.m. A caller said her 21-year-old daughter is being held hostage in the emergency room and the nurses won’t let her see her.
10:08 p.m. A woman was taking photos of the hospital and patients.

1:52 a.m. An overdose was reported on Fairview Lane. Narcan was administered.
11:31 a.m. A Taco Bell caller said a woman was possibly selling drugs because homeless people are going up to her RV, then walking away.
12:07 p.m. A Starbucks employee wanted a man removed because he was asked to leave, but refused.
12:26 p.m. A gas meter on Simmons Lane was hit, causing a leak.
12:33 p.m. An Alcalde caller reported several items were stolen from their home yesterday. They followed tracks to the bosque and found the items, along with a campsite.
12:47 p.m. A caller said a construction truck dropped a pile of asphalt on the road in Alcalde.
12:52 p.m. Officers went to McCurdy Charter School for a call of minors in possession.
12:55 p.m. A caller reported an accident near Walmart and said a driver was trying to offer them money instead of filing a police report.
1:20 p.m. A Truchas caller said her house was broken into and seven guns were stolen.
1:21 p.m. A Peace Keepers caller reported a woman in the business said her husband physically abused her this morning.
1:44 p.m. A Velarde caller said there’s an ongoing issue with a neighbor who keeps jumping fences and trespassing. The caller said law enforcement needs to get there because if he sees the fence jumper, he’s going to shoot or stab him.
1:49 p.m. A La Mesilla caller reported she is going to kill her husband because he’s been beating her for 18 years. She also threatened to kill her ex-boyfriend with a knife.
4:48 p.m. An overdose was reported in the back alley at Food King. Narcan was administered.
5:38 p.m. A Medanales caller said someone stole his car and took it across the arroyo, but he retrieved it.
6:39 p.m. A Walmart caller wanted to speak with an officer because she claimed someone intentionally put a screw in her tire.
6:46 p.m. An Abiquiú caller said his mother is verbally harassing him and she has a bad problem with pills.
6:50 p.m. An El Guique caller reported the neighbor is verbally harassing her about her dogs.
7:11 p.m. A North Prince Drive caller said his girlfriend is drunk and harassing him, claiming that she wants him to lose his job.
7:36 p.m. An East Montana Vista Street and South McCurdy Road caller reported three men are walking up and down the street and they’re “not from here.”
10:42 p.m. A caller heard about 10 gunshots near Ranchitos Park.
11:38 p.m. A second caller reported shots fired near Ranchitos Park.

Sept. 9
2:23 a.m. A woman called 911 to request a ride to her friend’s house. A dispatcher told her 911 shouldn’t be used to ask for a ride. The woman insisted on speaking with an officer and said she doesn’t want to walk in the dark.
6:50 a.m. Four homeless people were camping out near the front door at Wendy’s.
7:57 a.m. A caller said homeless people are storing their belongings in the septic area and damaged it. They also found company vehicles had been damaged overnight.
9:56 a.m. A Hernandez caller reported her partner hit her head against a wall.
10:54 a.m. A caller said there’s a camper on the property near the dumpster at Fairview Pharmacy. The vehicle has been there all weekend and they’ve been using the electricity from KFC.
2:03 p.m. A caller reported a man was unconscious on West Winesap Drive.
4:22 p.m. An ambulance was requested because a motorcycle slid off the road in Lindrith.
7:20 p.m. An overdose was reported at Allsups.
7:46 p.m. A Milagro Village Mobile Home Park caller said the neighbor has been playing music for five consecutive days.
8:58 p.m. An East Jonathan Drive caller reported a man is outside his house, yelling and cussing at him.
9:39 p.m. An overdose was reported on West Calle Jose Pablo.
‘All Drugged Up’
Sept. 10
2:30 a.m. A South Riverside Drive caller said the neighbor sprayed her in the eyes with mace.
7:44 a.m. A Santa Clara Peak Road caller reported she was “all drugged up” last night and her ex-boyfriend won’t let her get her belongings out of his vehicle.
11:12 a.m. An Española Hospital caller said a patient left an infant by itself and then overdosed.
11:40 a.m. Game and Fish was requested at Escalante High School after a bear was spotted on campus.
11:52 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on an 8-year-old boy with a backpack, walking on the side of the road near the Dreamcatcher Theater.
12:51 p.m. A Lowe’s Home Improvement caller said people who have been trespassed are trying to set up a camp by the garden area.
2:06 p.m. An overdose was reported at Walmart. Two doses of Narcan were administered.
2:25 p.m. A man was cussing at people and harassing them at Walgreens.
2:55 p.m. A Lowe’s Chama Valley Supermarket employee said a man beat her manager and is now walking around the building.
4:54 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man lying in the middle of the road on Lower San Pedro road.
5:03 p.m. A man who went through the drive-thru at Lotaburger called an employee on the phone and insulted her multiple times. When she took his food to him, he told her “payback is a bitch and he’ll get his payback.”
5:27 p.m. A Walgreens caller said a man is smoking in the porta potties outside the store.
6:55 p.m. A man on Calle Olivas was bleeding from the arms and not breathing. CPR was performed, but he died.
8:06 p.m. An overdose was reported at the Ohkay Travel Center. Four doses of Narcan were administered.
