The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Abiquiú Lake will host its third annual Midwinter Eagle Watch Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon.
The alternate date in case of bad weather will be Jan. 10 from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will meet at the Abiquiú Lake project office, and the event is open to the public. Hot coffee and snacks will be available.
The purpose of the watch is to collect data which will assist in national and local tracking of the bird’s numbers. Last year, nine eagles were counted. For additional information, call Lead Park Ranger Eric Garner at 685-4371.
