The Kentucky Fried Chicken and Conoco gas station located at the corner of Fairview and Highway 84/285 was robbed at gunpoint the night of Sept. 13, according to Española Police.
The robber, described as a male approximately 5-feet 6-inches tall, threatened two clerks with a handgun and received an undisclosed amount of cash, Sgt. Christian Lopez said. The robbery occurred shortly before the store’s 11 p.m. closing time.
The robber was wearing all black with his face covered in a black ski mask, Lopez said.
Store manager Juan Hernandez said there are usually three clerks on duty, but one had gone home sick that evening. He said no one has robbed or attempted to rob the store before during the time he has been manager, which has been the past two and a half months.
One of the clerks robbed in the incident, Jose Olivas, said police instructed him not to talk about the ongoing investigation.
“The details are still sketchy,” Lopez said.
