An Española woman was stabbed repeatedly in the torso July 28 by a female suspect identified only as “Nana,” according to a police report.
The injuries were not life-threatening, the report states.
Elizabeth Martinez, 23, was confronted at her home on Calle Quintana by two people: a man with a shaved head and tattooed arms, and a woman armed with a baseball bat, the report states. Martinez and her friend Bonny Maestas, a witness, told Española Police that the man took the baseball bat away from the woman, who then attacked Martinez with a sharp object.
“Ms. Maestas told me she saw blood on Ms. Martinez and helped her inside, where they removed Ms. Martinez’s shirt and found multiple stab wounds,” reporting officer Jeremy Apodaca wrote.
According to the report, Martinez said she went to high school with the suspect but knew her only as “Nana.”
Española Police Department Deputy Chief Larry Ham said the case has been forwarded to the district attorney’s office for approval of charges.
