ABIQUIÚ LAKE: The fishing was slow for all species, anglers caught a few brown trout and walleye caught by trolling assorted lures over 20-to-30 feet of water.
CHAMA RIVER: The water flows below El Vado and Abiquiú dams Monday morning were 560 cubic feet per second and 629 cubic feet per second, respectively. The fishing was slow with just a few fish taken by anglers using chartreuse/neon Z Rays below El Vado.
EAGLE NEST LAKE: The trout fishing last week was sporadic. Some anglers did well using power bait, salmon eggs, spinners and Pistol Petes for a mix of rainbow trout and perch while others reported the fishing as slow.
EL VADO LAKE: The trout fishing was slow-to-fair using power bait, spinners, night crawlers and salmon eggs.
FENTON LAKE: The trout fishing was fair-to-good using Pistol Petes, power bait and salmon eggs. The area received 10-to-12 inches of snow over the weekend, but the roads were in good condition.
HERON LAKE: The fishing from the bank was fair for rainbow trout using salmon eggs, power bait and spinners. The fishing from boats was fair for lake trout and rainbow trout trolling rainbow-colored crank baits.
JEMEZ WATERS: The water flow on the Jemez River near Jemez Springs Monday morning was 80 cubic feet per second. The trout fishing on the Jemez, San Antonio, East Fork and Cebolla rivers was fair using black and green copper john bars, worms and salmon eggs.
PECOS RIVER: The water flow near Pecos Monday was 140 cubic feet per second. The trout fishing on the upper Pecos and the Mora Fork was fair using copper john bars, prince nymphs and salmon eggs.
RIO GRANDE: The water flow at the Taos Junction Bridge Monday morning was 727 cubic feet per second. The trout fishing was slow-to-fair using wooly buggers and spinners.
SANTA CRUZ LAKE: The trout fishing was fair-to-good using power bait, worms, salmon eggs, spoons and spinners.
CATCHES OF THE WEEK:
Andres Alvarado, 5, of Santa Fe, caught a 3-pound, 9-ounce walleye that measured 20 inches April 10 at Abiquiú Lake using a Salmo lure trolling in 27 feet of water.
Ted Larson of Los Lunas caught an 8-pound, 8-ounce lake trout that measured 27inches April 10 at Heron Lake trolling a rainbow bomber at 25 feet.
