ABIQUIÚ LAKE: The fishing for walleye was fair-to-good during the week but slow over the weekend. A few walleye were caught by anglers using Lucky Craft bevy shad, bottom bouncers with Wally Pops and Gulp night crawlers. The best lures for smallmouth bass were jerk baits, buzz baits and crank baits.
RIO CHAMA: The water flows Monday morning below El Vado and Abiquiú dams were 1,330 cubic feet per second and 1,240 cubic feet per second, respectively. The trout fishing below El Vado was slow-to-fair using weighted wooly buggers and worms.
EAGLE NEST LAKE: The fishing for perch was fair-to-good using worms and salmon eggs. The fishing for kokanee salmon and rainbow trout was sporadic. A few trout were caught from the bank on power bait. The fishing from boats was best using needlefish, Panther Martins and kokanee killers tipped with corn.
HERON LAKE: The fishing for kokanee salmon was slow-to-fair using double whammies tipped with corn trolling at 27-to-31 feet. Anglers trolling Panther Martins reported catching more rainbow trout than kokanee. The fishing from the bank was slow-to-fair using power bait, salmon eggs and spinners.
HOPEWELL LAKE: The trout fishing was slow-to-fair using hoppers, Pistol Petes under a casting bubble and salmon eggs.
JEMEZ WATERS: The water flow Monday morning on the Jemez River near Jemez Springs was 9.4 cubic feet per second. The fishing on the Rio Guadalupe and lower Rio Cebolla was good using salmon eggs, copper john barrs, stimulators and worms for trout up to 18 inches.
LAGUNA DEL CAMPO: The trout fishing was fair using spinners, Pistol Petes and power bait.
PECOS RIVER: The water flow Monday near the town of Pecos was 35 cubic feet per second. The trout fishing was fair-to-good using stimulators, copper john barrs, salmon eggs, power bait and worms.
RIO GRANDE: The water flow Monday morning at Taos Junction Bridge was 238 cubic feet per second. The trout fishing was fair using Chernobyl ants, night crawlers, wooly buggers, jerk baits and Kastmasters. A few northern pike were taken using large bunny leeches and jerk baits.
RIO PUEBLO: The water flow Monday near Peñasco was 9.2 cubic feet per second. The trout fishing was fair using stimulators, copper john barrs and salmon eggs.
SAN JUAN RIVER: The water flow Monday morning below Navajo Lake was 1,140 cubic feet per second. The trout fishing through the Quality Waters was fair-to-good using RS2s, emergers, parachute adams, wooly buggers, small hair jigs and bead head pheasant tail nymphs. The fishing through the bait waters was fair-to-good using jerk baits, spinners, wooly buggers, copper john barrs, salmon eggs, garlic cheese and night crawlers.
SANTA CRUZ LAKE: The trout fishing was slow-to-fair using corn, power bait, salmon eggs, Pistol Petes under a casting bubble and spinners.
