ABIQUIU LAKE: Fishing was slow for all species
CHAMA RIVER: The water flows Monday morning below El Vado and Abiquiú dams were 51 cubic feet per second and 108 cubic feet per second, respectively. Trout fishing below Abiquiú Lake was slow-to-fair using salmon eggs and spinners. Trout fishing below El Vado was slow.
EAGLE NEST LAKE: The lake is open to ice fishing with restrictions. The open area is between the boat ramps and out to the orange flags. The ice has been holding at about 14 inches Fishing this past week was fair-to-good for perch and fair for trout. The best baits were ice jigs, salmon eggs and wax worms. The best action was around the south boat ramp.
HERON LAKE: Bank fishing in the Ridge Rock area was fair using salmon eggs, power bait and home made dough baits for rainbow trout and a few small lake trout.
JEMEZ WATERS: The water flow on the Jemez River near Jemez Springs Monday morning was 27 cubic feet per second. Trout fishing on the lower Jemez River was good using salmon eggs, power bait and copper john barrs.
NAVAJO LAKE: There were a few brown trout caught by anglers trolling jointed crank baits on light line.
PECOS RIVER: Trout fishing was slow.
RIO GRANDE: The water flow Monday morning at the Taos Junction Bridge was 508 cubic feet per second. Fishing for trout was slow. A few were taken by anglers using spoons. Fishing for northern pike was slow-to-fair using jerk baits and big bunny leeches.
SAN JUAN River: The water flow below Navajo Lake Monday morning was 493 cubic feet per second. Trout fishing through the Quality Waters was fair-to-good using hair jigs, leeches, midges, wooly buggers and San Juan worms. Fishing through the bait waters was fair using salmon eggs, jigs, leeches and jerk baits.
