Fishing Report for the Week of June 11

ABIQUIÚ LAKE: The fishing was fair-to-good for walleye using crank baits, jigs and grub combinations, jerk baits, minnows and night crawlers. The fishing for smallmouth bass was fair using jerk baits, topwater lures, tubes, senkos and crank baits. The fishing for catfish was fair using liver and dough bait.

CHAMA RIVER: The water flows below El Vado and Abiquiú dams Monday morning were 197 cubic feet per second and 1,630 cubic feet per second, respectively. The trout fishing below El Vado was fair-to-good using night crawlers, black and yellow Panther Martins, wooly buggers and salmon eggs for a mixed bag of brown and rainbow trout.

EL VADO LAKE: The fishing for trout was slow-to-fair using spinners, worms and power bait.

HERON LAKE: The fishing for kokanee salmon was good using double whammies, Arnies and Panther Martins at depths of 12-to-18 feet. The bank fishing for trout and kokanee was fair-to-good using power bait, salmon eggs, corn and salmon egg combos and spinners. The best reports came from anglers fishing in the Brushy Point area.

HOPEWELL LAKE: The trout fishing was good using power bait, copper john barrs, gold bead hare’s ears and salmon eggs. Most of the fish caught were rainbow trout.

NAMBÉ LAKE: The fishing for rainbow trout averaging 12-to-17 inches was excellent using assorted power bait, salmon eggs and olive green Pistol Petes. The lake will be stocked this week with approximately 4,000 rainbow trout averaging 13-to-15 inches.

RIO GRANDE: The water flow at Taos Junction Bridge Monday morning was 1,450 cubic feet per second. The fishing for northern pike was slow-to-fair using large flies and jerk baits. The trout fishing was fair using wooly buggers, night crawlers and spinners.

SANTA CRUZ LAKE: The fishing for trout was fair using power bait, salmon eggs, spoons, wooly buggers and spinners.
