Fishing Report for the Week of March 26

ABIQUIÚ LAKE: The fishing for walleye and smallmouth bass was fair using minnows, grubs, jerk baits and crank baits.

CHAMA RIVER: The water flows below El Vado and Abiquiú dams Monday morning were 553 cubic feet per second and 200 cubic feet per second, respectively.

EAGLE NEST LAKE: The fishing from the bank was good using power bait, salmon eggs, spinners, small hair jigs and worms for trout and a few perch.

EL VADO LAKE: The trout fishing was slow.

FENTON LAKE: The fishing for trout was good using Pistol Petes, spoons, spinners, power bait and worms.

HERON LAKE: The fishing for rainbow trout from the bank was slow-to-fair using rainbow power bait. The best reports came from anglers fishing near the dam. The fishing for lake trout from boats was slow with just a few small lake trout being caught by anglers using jigs in 30 to 40 feet of water.

JEMEZ WATERS: The water flow on the Jemez River near Jemez Springs Monday morning was 80 cubic feet per second. The fishing on the Rio Cebolla and the East Fork  of the Jemez River was good in the afternoon using small dry flies. Anglers did best on the Jemez River using worms and spinners.

RIO GRANDE: The water flow at the Taos Junction Bridge Monday morning was 1,010 cubic feet per second. The fishing on the upper Rio Grande was slow but a few trout were caught by anglers using large wooly buggers, spinners and night crawlers.

SAN JUAN RIVER: The water flow below Navajo Lake Monday morning was 504 cubic feet per second. The trout fishing through the Quality Waters was fair using red annelids, bead head pheasant tails, small hair jigs, wooly buggers, dead chickens and emergers. The fishing through the bait waters was fair using night crawlers, hair jigs, salmon eggs, power bait and jerk baits.

SANTA CRUZ LAKE: The trout fishing was very good using power bait, salmon eggs, corn, crank baits and spinners.
