ABIQUIÚ LAKE: The fishing for walleye was good using crank baits, tubes, grubs and minnows. The fishing for smallmouth bass was good using tubes, grubs, spinner baits, crank baits and jerk baits. A few brown trout were taken by anglers using crank baits, night crawlers and minnows.
CHAMA RIVER: The water flows Monday morning below El Vado and Abiquiú dams were 1,750 cubic feet per second and 1,660 cubic feet per second, respectively. The fishing was slow in both areas.
EAGLE NEST LAKE: The fishing for trout was good using spoons, spinners, power bait and salmon eggs. The fishing for perch was fair to good using worms.
FENTON LAKE: The fishing for trout was good from the bank and from boats using wooly buggers, Pistol Petes, power bait, worms and salmon eggs.
HERON LAKE: The fishing was slow for all species. There were a few lake trrout in the 3-pound to 7-pound class caught on rainbow Bombers and red-and-white Flatfish trolled at a depth of 20 to 40 feet.
JEMEZ WATERS: The water flow on the Jemez River near Jemez Springs Monday morning was 176 cubic feet per second. The fishing on the San Antonio, upper Cebolla and East Fork of the Jemez River was fair using salmon eggs, bead head prince nymphs and copper john barrs.
RIO GRANDE: The water flow at Taos Junction Bridge Monday morning was 1,920 cubic feet per second. A few trout were taken by anglers using night crawlers and wooly buggers.
SAN JUAN RIVER: The water flow Monday morning below Navajo Lake was 547 cubic feet per second. Anglers can expect water flows to start ramping up May 20 and reach 5,000 cubic feet per second by May 28. The fishing in the Quality Waters was fair-to-good using wooly buggers, parachute adams, dead chickens, small pheasant tail nymphs and little princesses. The fishing in the bait waters was fair using night crawlers, salmon eggs, wooly buggers, copper john barrs and jerk baits.
SANTA CRUZ LAKE: The trout fishing was fair using power bait, salmon eggs, worms, spoons and spinners.
