Fishing Report for the Week of Nov. 13

ABIQUIU LAKE: Fishing was slow with the exception of a few walleye taken by anglers using spoons and trolling bottom bouncers/night crawler rigs and deep running crank baits.

CHAMA RIVER: Monday morning water flow below El Vado and Abiquiú dams was 44 cubic feet per second and 72 cubic feet per second, respectively. Fishing below El Vado was fair using egg patterns, spinners and night crawlers for trout. Most of the action was for brown trout with just a few rainbows taken.

EAGLE NEST LAKE: Kokanee snagging was fair to good this past week in the Six Mile area, the Honey Hole and between the boat ramps. Bank fishing for trout was fair for anglers using roe sacs, power bait and salmon eggs.

EL VADO LAKE: Fishing was slow to fair using night crawlers and spinners for trout. There were no reports on kokanee.

FENTON LAKE: Trout fishing was slow.

HERON LAKE: Opens for kokanee snagging Friday. Bank fishing was good using roe sacs, salmon eggs and power bait.

JEMEZ WATERS: Water flow on the Jemez as of Monday morning was 21 cubic feet per second near Jemez Springs. Trout fishing on the Jemez, Cebolla, San Antonio and East Fork was fair for some but slow for others. A few trout were taken by anglers using salmon eggs, copper john bars and worms.

NAVAJO LAKE: Kokanee snagging slowed considerably this past week. There were a few taken near the dam and in Francis Canyon. Fishing for trout was fair using roe sacs and salmon eggs on the main lake near the snagging areas.

RIO GRANDE: The water flow Monday morning near the Taos Junction Bridge was 328 cubic feet per second. Trout fishing on the upper river was good using wooly buggers, copper john bars, spinners and night crawler.

SAN JUAN: Water flow below Navajo Lake as of Monday morning was 508 cubic feet per second. Trout fishing was fair for some but slow for others. Best flies in the Quality Waters were dead chickens, Griffith’s gnats, RS2s, red annelids, chamois leeches and egg patterns. Fishing through the bait waters was fair using night crawlers, salmon eggs, garlic cheese and streamers.

SANTA CRUZ LAKE: Trout fishing was fair using salmon eggs, spinners, power bait and worms.

STORRIE LAKE: Fishing was good using salmon eggs, corn and rainbow power bait for trout.
