Fishing Report: Week of Dec. 25

ABIQUIU LAKE: Fishing was slow for all species.

CHAMA RIVER: Monday morning water flows below El Vado and Abiquiú dams were 391 cubic feet per second and 279 cubic feet per second, respectively. Fishing pressure was very light and there were no reports from anglers this week.

EAGLE NEST LAKE: As of Monday, there was a thin layer of ice on the lake which made it unsafe for ice fishing.

HERON LAKE: Bank fishing was fair using roe sacs and salmon eggs for rainbow trout and small lake trout. Ice was forming around the edges of the lake.

JEMEZ WATERS: Water flow on the Jemez River as of Monday morning was 27 cubic feet per second near Jemez Springs. Trout fishing on the Jemez was slow-to-fair using copper john bars and salmon eggs. Fishing on the East Fork and the Cebolla was slow.

NAVAJO LAKE: Fishing was slow for all species.

PECOS RIVER: Water flow near the town of Pecos as of Monday morning was 60 cubic feet per second. Trout fishing was fair using salmon eggs, small bead head nymphs and worms.

RIO GRANDE: The water flow Monday morning at the Taos Junction Bridge was 428 cubic feet per second. Trout fishing was slow, but anglers caught a fish taken by anglers using salmon eggs and streamers.

SAN JUAN RIVER: Water flow below Navajo Lake as of Monday morning was 504 cubic feet per second. Trout fishing through the Quality Waters was fair using small streamers, dead chickens, parachute adams, emergers, red annelids and leeches. Fishing through the bait waters was fair using Kastmasters, jerk baits, streamers and copper john bars.
