El Vecino’s September Gardening To Do’s

1.  Irrigate once or twice before first frost.

2.  Weed the garden a final time to prevent unwanted seeding.

3.  Pick corn, horno roast it and sun-dry it for chicos.

4.  Pick red chile for ristras.

5.  Tie chile ristras.

6.  Harvest melons, remove seeds and store for future use.

7.  Harvest watermelons, remove seeds and store for future use.

8.  Roast, peel and freeze green chile.

9.  Prepare tomato plant covers to protect from early frost.

10. Harvest mature calabacitas, remove seeds and store for future use.

11. Share some of the harvest con vecinos to gladden the heart and warm the soul!
