Genealogy WorkshopHosted in El Rito

Published:

The El Rito Library will host a genealogy workshop Oct. 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The workshop will be led by Henrietta M. Christmas. She is an author, lecturer and full-time genealogist. She lectures throughout New Mexico and Colorado on topics related to Hispanics from as early as 1542 through 1850.

Christmas claims to be a native New Mexican who descends from 11 soldiers who came with Oñate in 1598. She lives in Corrales.

New Mexico research can pose unique and sometimes difficult challenges working backward through a family tree. Using clues and different types of records, along with cultural practices can help further family research into the 18th and 19th centuries.
