JOHNNY S. ROYBAL
age 60 of El Duende, NM. died unexpectedly on Monday March 2, 2009. He was the eldest son of the late Johnny A. and Ninfa Roybal. He was preceded in death by his parents and also his sister Eliza Roybal. Johnny was a decorated Vietnam Veteran, he worked for many years as a fireman in Los Alamos and retired as a postman. He enjoyed camping and fishing with Tudy, Lorenzo and his family, but most of all he enjoyed helping others and was always willing to lend a hand. He was an avid reader and enjoyed going on religious pilgrimages as well as attending the blessed sacrament. Johnny is survived by his companion Linda Martinez, sister Patricia Roybal-Martinez and husband Tomas of Rio Rancho, brothers Joseph Roybal, James Roybal and wife Gloria, Jerome Roybal, and youngest brother Chris Roybal-all of El Duende, niece ReAnn and other relatives, friends and loved ones. Recitation of the rosary was held on Sunday March 8th at 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez. The Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday March 9th at noon also at San Jose Catholic Church. Interment has been held at The Santa Fe National Cemetery with military honors. Serving as pallbearers were Lorenzo Herrera, Art Herrera, Harold Lovato, Albert Lopez, Louie Martinez and Adan Ortega.
The Roybal family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation for everyone’s comfort and support during our time of loss. We are very grateful for all the phone calls, visits and touching cards as well as for joining us at the Rosaries and Funeral. Thanks to all of our family and friends who came in from out of town. Thanks to Father Moore and Deacon Eloy Martinez for the wonderful mass, eulogy and words of comfort that were expressed during our time of grief. We would also like to thank the San Jose Choir, the Hermanos from Hernandez and the Knights of Columbus for the use of the hall. The VFW for the military honors, Delta Flowers and Block-Salazar mortuary for your services now and in the past. Your prayers, kindness and devotion are more deeply appreciated than any words of thanks can express.
