Audubon New Mexico will host a free field trip at the Ohkay Owingeh Lakes Feb. 2 educating participants about the many kinds of birds that winter in the Española Valley bosque. Audubon will provide spotting scopes, binoculars and identification books for participants to use during class.
Northern New Mexico birder Bernie Foy will point out birds and share his vast knowledge of birds in general, and bosque bird in particular.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Rest rooms are available at the site.
Adults and children at least 10 years old with parent are welcome.
Participants will meet Feb. 2 at 9:45 a.m. in the parking lot at the Conoco Station, located at 2016 N. Riverside Drive in Espanola. From there the group will drive to the lakes.
