Let’s Party Again At Fiesta Española

Published:

July cannot arrive fast enough so that we can celebrate city-wide the return of Española Valley Fiesta.

The three-day event will be held July 8-11, as we report on page A-4 today. It’s been three years since it was last held in 2019. Like almost everything else in our lives, COVID-19, jumped in the way and the event was gone just like that.

The city is going to co-sponsor the celebration along with the Fiesta del Valle de Española Corporation, the non-profit designed to plan and support the event.

For our part at the Rio Grande SUN, we plan to be a major sponsor of the event, which is the oldest celebration of its kind in the city.

It seems to us that the timing is perfect for a celebration honoring the rich cultural history of Espanola. It’s high time we stopped to have a parade, dance, sing, and generally be happy.

Against the backdrop of war, continued gun violence, current and lingering effects of the virus, and high inflation this is welcome news.

The planners and city officials are busy at work coming up with creative ideas to make this as festive as possible.

This will be a celebration of our history, our past, and three happy days in the present.
