Voicing frustrations
I am writing this letter in regard to frustrations voiced about homeless issues. I didn’t attend the meeting because I figured it would be a waste of time. As long as there is money given to these people, I don’t think this cycle will end.
This is a problem in every city and community in the U.S. What the politicians don’t tell the people is that there is a lot of money thrown into this issue. What a lot of people don’t know is that the government is putting a lot of money into the homeless issue. I am talking about the federal government giving the states millions of dollars in the form of grants, and then the state gives the local politicians money to support these people. I know for a fact that some politicians here in Española have bought sleeping bags, tents, back packs, and even jackets for some of these people.
On top of getting a monthly check, they get food stamps, free medical attention, and they get fed at the food banks, also they get food every Wednesday. As long as they get everything free, and are taken care of, this cycle will not end.
The people that have it hard, are the ones that are working and having to support the homeless by paying taxes for these grants being provided by the federal government.

Open season
The recent Española city council meeting where Mayor Vigil accosted a fellow council member’s mother is an embarrassment to the city I can’t let it go.
Whatever you think of Councilman Sam LeDoux’s opinions the contrast in younger leadership couldn’t be clearer. LeDoux at least has a sense of courtesy and honor from what I have seen. Vigil is a child, the youngest mayor in our city history is accosting the mother of an elected official he needs to grow up or get out. Española has real problems he shouldn’t be one of them. When did we have open season on our elders. Especially when they might be right.
