Española Wastewater Director Louis Lujan has retired, effective Jan. 30, after nearly 23 years with the city.
Lujan was hired in April 1986 as a service worker in the city’s General Services Department, Human Resources Director Jeanie Brito said.
Lujan could not be reached for comment.
For now, plant operator Carlos Rodriguez is filling Lujan’s shoes as acting wastewater director. Rodriguez had already served that role while Lujan was away on family medical leave in late 2008, Brito said.
Brito said she has not yet spoken to Acting City Manager Veronica Albin about advertising for a new wastewater director. The city is still in the process of hiring a community services director, librarian and attorney.
