A Lyden man committed suicide April 3 in his home, according to the Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s Department.

Harold Garcia, 52, was found hanging in the bathroom of his mobile home by his daughter-in-law Kanisa Hice shortly before 11 p.m., Det. Adam Archuleta said. Garcia had used an audiovisual cable tied to a clothes rack built into the wall of the bathroom, Archuleta said.

Garcia was angry with Hice and his son, who both lived with him, and told them to leave the house around 6 p.m. the day he died, Archuleta said. Garcia had threatened to commit suicide in the past, Archuleta said. Relatives told the Department that Garcia frequently took Valium and passed out in the bathroom with the door locked.     Empty pill bottles were found at the scene, Archuleta said. No foul play is suspected.
