A Guadalupita man was arrested for DUI for the 22nd time Monday in Chimayó, according to State Police.
Delano Vigil, 51, was so drunk he was lying under his car on the side of State Road 76 after driving from a place he couldn’t recall, Lt. Eric Garcia said. He was too drunk to attempt field sobriety tests and was taken by ambulance to St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe to be checked out.
Vigil’s test results showed he had a .39 blood alcohol concentration, almost five times the legal limit, Garcia said. He was being held at Santa Fe County Jail on no bond for the charge of aggravated DUI, plus charges related to previous DUI cases.
According to an online court records database, Vigil pleaded guilty to driving under the influence in 2007 and 2009, pleaded guilty to aggravated DUI in 2006, and has a pending DUI charge from May 2009. In addition, Vigil has been arrested 16 times outside of New Mexico for DUI, Garcia said.
