Northern New Mexico College’s Office of American Indian Affairs is offering a free math camp for American Indian students who will be entering grades six through nine in the fall.

The camp will run from July 7 to July 31, with the camp being held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the college’s Española campus.

Snacks and lunches will be  provided. The application deadline is Friday. The program will accept 30 students. Applications received first will be given priority when selecting the students.

This program is designed to help students improve their math skills with an emphasis on hands-on activities. The camp is meant to be fun, experiential and there will be no pressures of home work or tests. Parents and students will be required to attend an orientation prior to the start of the camp.

Interested parents should contact their child’s school counselor, teacher or tribal education director or Julia Abeyta, Northern’s director of Indian Affairs, for the application packet. Abeyta can be reached at 747-2141 or jabeyta@nnmc.edu.
