An Española man has been accused of raping a La Madera woman May 26 at his home, according to Española Police.
The alleged rape occurred after he and the victim ran into each other in Española and went to a liquor store together before returning to his house, Det. Bryan Martinez said. The sexual encounter began consensually but the victim alleged she told the suspect to stop and he would not, Martinez said.
The victim, age 45, also alleged the suspect bit her.
The suspect, who is in his late 20s, gave police a different account, saying that the whole incident was consensual, Martinez said. The suspect was surprised to learn of the allegations, Martinez said.
The victim was given a sexual assault exam after the incident, Martinez said, and the case was forwarded to the District Attorney’s office. No arrest has been made in the case.
