Two teams from Mesa Vista Middle and High School’s FFA chapter returned Oct. 25 from the national convention with bronze and silver plaques and pins.
The teams were invited to participate in the convention, held Oct. 21 to Oct. 25 in Indianapolis, Ind., after winning first place in state championships, junior Mariah Galvez said. The following students won awards at the convention:
• Floriculture team: silver emblem award: Mariah Galvez, Kenneth Sandoval, Natasha Trujillo and Patricia Tafoya.
• Nursery landscape team, bronze emblem award: Anna Becker, Alexandria Vasquez, Erick Gallegos and Sonia Suazo.

Española Valley High School canceled school Tuesday because of a gas leak. Superintendent David Cockerham said all gas lines had been inspected and class would resume Wednesday.
